There is no better way to celebrate Chinese New Year than by bonding over a delicious reunion feast, and even more so in 2021 as we welcome a refreshing new start with friends and family. White Restaurant (also fondly known as ‘The Original Sembawang White Beehoon’ Restaurant) is ringing in the Year of the Ox with auspicious offerings at its six outlets islandwide. The restaurant has lined up an ensemble of auspicious feasts from 29 January to 26 February 2021. Special festive menus are created for all types of gatherings, from intimate meals for 4 persons (prices start from $238++) to bigger celebratory get-togethers of 8 persons (prices start from $518++).

Every set comes with a plate of their signature Prosperity Abalone Yusheng 鲍鱼捞生so diners can look forward to the fun and energetic ritual of ‘tossing up good fortune’. Luscious 14-head abalones are served with julienned winter melon, buckwheat, dried persimmon, carrots, deep-fried yam, and jellyfish in this yusheng. For an added crunch, the dish is topped with grounded peanuts, white sesame, and pomelo pulps. House-made piquant pomelo sauce and sliced lemon leaves tie the dish together with their fruity fragrance and taste.

Depending on the set menus chosen, diners will get to enjoy assorted appetizer platters. Those who opt for the 4pax set menus will kickstart with a Fortune Platter 兴旺三拼of 3 appetizers while those who opt for the 8pax set menus will get to enjoy a Good Luck Platter 吉祥四拼featuring 4 appetizers. Appetizers are pre-curated from a tantalizing selection of Signature Meat & Seafood Roll 虾枣, Signature Fried Wings 鸡翅, Wasabi Wild Fungus 芥末秋耳, Crispy Baby Squid 脆脆苏东仔, Traditional Turnip Kueh Pie Tee 传统沙葛小金杯, Dragonfruit Wasabi Salad Prawn 火龙果芥末虾, Thai-style Abalone Clam 泰式鲍贝, Caviar Scallop Siew Mai 鱼子带子烧卖, and Crispy Mango Prawn Beancurd Roll 芒果虾腐皮卷.

In their set menus, expect Chinese New Year staples such as Abalone & Foie Gras Wonton Collagen Soup 鲍鱼鹅肝云吞浓汤, boasting 14-head abalones and foie gras shrimp wontons in a rich, nourishing broth base yielded from simmering a winning combination of fish bones, chicken skulls and bones, pork bones, lean pork and chicken feet for over 6 hours; Ancient-style Steamed Red Grouper 古法蒸红斑, where a whole red grouper is steamed together with shredded pork, mushroom, ginger and preserved greens; XO Sauce Prawns with Broccoli XO 酱虾球西兰花, Fragrant Glutinous Rice with Conpoy in Lotus Leaf 瑶柱荷香糯米饭; Signature Orh Nee with Lotus Seeds 天山雪莲粟米芋泥; Red Bean with Lotus Seed & Lily Bud 红豆沙莲子百合羹 and more.

Stew-fried Pork Rib with Pineapple and Chinese Herbs

Notable dishes in their sets include Conpoy and Curry Prawn Yam Ring 脆瑶柱佛砵咖喱虾, a golden yam basket filled to the brim with a chock full of ingredients such as capsicums, dried scallops, and stir-fried succulent curry tiger prawns; Deep Fried Chicken with Crispy Rice 脆咪咪炸子鸡, featuring deep-fried chicken with tender juicy meat and paper-thin crispy skin laid atop a bed of golden rice crisps; Stew-fried Pork Rib with Pineapple and Chinese Herbs served with Golden Crispy Buns 秘制京烤骨 (配馒头), which as its name suggest, features pork ribs first fried and stewed for 4 hours till fork tender with a medley of ingredients including fresh pineapples, rose wine, dang gui (Angelica Sinensis) to enhance the flavor of the meat; and Truffle White Beehoon 松露白米粉, where their Original White Beehoon’s inimitable homemade broth is given an extra deluxe dimension thanks to the earthy aroma of premium truffle oil that’s been infused into the sauce.

Bountiful Sets are available at $238 (4pax) and $518 (8pax); Fortune Sets are available at $288 (4pax) and $568 (8pax); and Prosperity Sets are available at $328 (4pax) and $628 (8pax).

To encourage diners to visit the restaurant at off-peak hours and prevent overcrowding, White Restaurant is also offering discounts for off-peak reservations on Chinese New Year’s Eve (11 Feb). Diners who make reservations for their 1st and 2nd seatings at 12pm to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm respectively get to enjoy 10% off – giving families more reason to celebrate early!
