Wow, I've been eager to visit the renowned Michelin Bib Gourmand spot, Jok Prince Pattanakarn, for quite some time now. I've often wondered why I hadn't made it there sooner, but no matter—I'm finally here. Conveniently located near the BTS Saphan Taksin station, I decided to indulge in their pork congee with minced pork balls, a century egg, and a raw egg.
Address: 1391 Charoen Krung Road, Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
Opening Hours: 6 am – 1 pm, 3 pm –12 am
Jok Prince Pattanakarn has a rich history that adds to its charm. The shop started in the 1970s, and since then, it has been a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike. Over the decades, they have perfected their recipes, gaining a loyal following and earning a place in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list.
While exploring their menu, I noticed they also offer porridge with organs, but as I don't eat organs, I chose the pork congee. This dish is beautifully topped with fresh strips of ginger and spring onion. Although they're known for infusing their porridge with a distinctive wok hey flavor, I wasn't aware of this characteristic and didn't detect it during my meal. Perhaps it was subtle. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the smooth texture of the porridge; it practically required no chewing, just a simple swallow. 🤭
Finally making it to Jok Prince Pattanakarn was a delightful experience, and the exquisite pork congee lived up to its reputation. If you ever find yourself near BTS Saphan Taksin, I highly recommend giving this place a visit.
