REVIEW: Good Mee Rebus in Singapore: Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebusin Haig Road Market & Food Centre Singapore

Haig Road Market & Food Centre is a lively hawker centre located in Singapore’s Geylang Serai area, renowned for its wide variety of Malay, Indian, and Chinese food stalls. A popular spot among locals, this food centre is known for its authentic dining experience, offering traditional dishes at wallet-friendly prices.

Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebus is another well-established stall here, operating since 1967—nearly 57 years in business! The second-generation owner took over in 2008, continuing the legacy. While they are best known for their Mee Rebus, their Mee Soto also comes highly recommended, so I decided to give it a try.

Address: Haig Road Market & Food Centre, 14 Haig Rd, #01-21, Singapore 430014

Opening Hours: 10.30am - 8pm, Closed on Wednesday

However, the Mee Soto was somewhat underwhelming. It was flavorful but lacked depth, and the shredded chicken was disappointingly dry and not very enjoyable. On the bright side, the soup was less oily compared to other Mee Soto versions I’ve tried before.

The thick, rich gravy of their Mee Rebus immediately caught my attention. Thickened with sweet potato puree and infused with shrimp, flower crab, and mutton, the gravy was unexpectedly savory rather than sweet. It was topped with spring onions, green chili, fried shallots, lime, and coriander, making it a delightful and balanced dish.
