Authentic Hong Kong-style Milk Tea by Kam Kee Café, now in Singapore for the First Time Ever – Made Possible by Joy Luck Teahouse’s Collaboration with Kam’s Roast

Need bubble tea to tide you over this circuit breaker period? Now there is a new variant in town! Joy Luck Teahouse, in collaboration with Kam’s Roast, will be doling out the authentic milk tea by the renowned Kam Kee Café. Boasting over 40 years of history, the latter is a stalwart in Hong Kong’s cha chaan teng scene, lauded for its baked tomato pork chop rice, sweet pineapple buns, and of course milk tea. Enjoy the milk tea on its own, or as a unique, Hong Kong-style bubble tea (called Pearl of the Orient), which comes with a generous amount of brown sugar tapioca balls. You can even choose to add marine collagen to the bubble milk tea!

Following a secret recipe, the fragrant milk tea is made with a special blend of three types of premium Sri Lankan black tea leaves. The multi-textured blend consists of Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings rough tea, Broken Orange Pekoe Ceylon tea as well as tea dust.  The concoction of the tea is then mixed with top-quality European milk for a full-bodied flavor. The chewy tapioca balls for the bubble milk tea (Pearl of the Orient) are cooked in brown sugar and made fresh daily, each one contributing an enticing bite to the velvety drink. Finally, the premium marine collagen, specially imported from Korea will boost the elasticity of your skin, prolonging your youthfulness.

Pearl of the Orient bubble milk tea

Slated to open in the third quarter of this year, Joy Luck Teahouse is the brainchild of legendary TV producer Robert Chua. The teahouse will dole out three of Hong Kong’s classics, all of which are on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong list: egg tarts, pineapple buns, and Hong Kong-style milk tea. The egg tarts are by Hoover Cake Shop and the pineapple buns and milk tea are by Kam Kee Café.

This exciting collaboration with Kam’s Roast offers you a preview of the teahouse’s menu mainstays. The Pearl of the Orient bubble milk tea goes at S$4.80; top up S$1 to add the marine collagen. The authentic Hong Kong-style milk tea (without pearls) is priced at S$3.80.  To order the Pearl of the Orient or the milk tea, you will need to order one Kam’s Roast main dish as well.
