8 KL Hokkien Mee stall to try in Singapore!

It is so hard to find KL Hokkien Mee in Singapore. The thick dark soy sauce is honestly the essence of the Traditional KL-style Hokkien mee and has distinguished the noodles by giving it a super dark color. The noodles used are also different in texture from our Singapore Hokkien Mee. It has a thicker texture. Traditional KL Hokkien mee is stir-fried with pork lard which imparts a richer flavor making any dish tasty!

1) Papparich

PappaRich is a chain restaurant in Singapore that offers authentic Malaysian hawker fare. KL Hokkien Mee which is one of the most famous dishes in Malaysia can be found here as well. Papparich is HALAL so no pork lard is used. The thick noodles are instead braised in rich chicken broth and premium soy sauce along with seafood and chicken slices.

The KL Hokkien mee is currently available at their EXPRESS outlets like HARBOURFRONT CENTRE, NOVOTEL ON STEVENS, and OUR TAMPINES HUB. Not sure what other express outlets are there.

2) Malaysia Boleh!

Malaysia Boleh is like a food court but featuring Malaysian food. If you didn't know, the authentic traditional secret recipes from top-rated Malaysian street hawkers are used herein Malaysia Boleh.
I have not been to KL before but the KL Hokkien mee really brings the normal Hokkien mee up a notch! It is also not easy to find places that sell this.
The thick udon-like noodles are stir-fried in lip-smacking dark soya sauce until everything is coated in it! This comes with tender slices of chicken, cabbages, and pork lard. Malaysia Boleh Singapore is the place to go if you want to try Malaysian cuisines.

3) Famous KL Hokkien Mee

Found this hidden gem at ABC Brickworks. This stall only has KL Hokkien Mee. Love the sauce but the noodles are a tad too soft for my liking. Would have been better if it's firmer. This comes in a $4/6/8 portion. It looks promising, perhaps they could have found a way to better cook the noodles.

4) Yalong Bay 亚龙湾地道小厨

The noodles were coated in this delicious black sauce which was not salty at all! I think this was cooked with pork lard as there was quite a lot of that inside. You can expect to find pieces of prawns and sotong inside as well. This is sold at $6/$9/$12. This was so yummy I went back twice to eat this.

5) Malaysian Food Street @ RWS

If you're heading to Resort World Sentosa, Malaysian Food Street also has this delectable KL Hokkien Mee. A rather well-balanced plate of Hokkien mee that is not too sweet nor salty. Very Slurp Worthy and flavourful! the MFS version comes with prawns, lean pork, squid, and cabbage.

6) Dynasty Fried Porridge (皇庭炒粥)

TBH the KL style ones are rare and hard to find so this is quite a hidden gem. Located at an unassuming coffee shop with the name of Dynasty Fried Porridge (皇庭炒粥), it gives people the impression that they're a porridge shop. right?

The fat yellow noodles were fried with this delectable dark soy sauce with cabbage and shrimp and topped with fried crispy pork lard. Would be better if they include slices of chicken, pork, or squid. I would still pay $6 for this though. Not overly salty but can get quite gelat after a while so it's best to order a large one and share?

Address: 30 Foch Rd, #01-02, Singapore 209276
Opening Hours: Mon - Thurs, Sunday - 11.30am - 11.30pm
Friday - Saturday 11.30am - 12am

7) Sembawang Claypot Rice Nex

Found Sembawang Claypot Rice Nex at Food Republic at Serangoon Nex.

Super the bouncy fat noodles from KL Hokkien mee. I saw someone mention it on Instagram and decided to pay them a visit after work. Fresh prawns, veggies, and pork lard were used in the Claypot KL here, which was coated in a sweet-salty sauce. The sauce was very tasty leh! It has a lot of flavors.

8) Ipoh Tuck Kee Son 怡保德记仔炒粉

Ipoh Tuck Kee Son has opened another outlet at Blk 9 Toa Payoh Industrial Park Coffee Shop. This plate of KL Hokkien mee was lighter in flavor as compared to the Moonlight Hor fun, but still pretty good.
