6 Udon stalls in Singapore you don't want to miss!

I am used to traveling to Japan every year and Udon is a must-try for me when I'm there! Since traveling is not possible now, I have compiled some places for everyone to satisfy their cravings!

1) Maru-Ten Udon

Located in basement 1 of Novena Square Shopping Mall is Maru-Ten Udon. Their specialty is Sanuki udon. Udon noodles are smooth but significantly firmer and supple. As a huge mentaiko lover, I couldn't resist getting the Mentaiko Butter Dry Udon. There was a generous dollop of mentaiko atop the noodles.

I also added an onsen egg and added some spring onions. I believe the butter was already melted inside. I tossed the mentaiko thoroughly with everything and was rewarded with heaps of umami! so good!

Address: Novena Square Shopping Mall, 101 Thomson Rd, Singapore 307591

2) Fu-Men Japanese Udon & Donburi restaurant

Located in the basement of the Hong Leong Building is Fu-Men Japanese Udon & Donburi restaurant. If you're familiar with the Teppei chain of restaurant, this is opened by them as well but Halal-certified!

The udon noodles are smooth with a delicious firmness to it. I ordered the recommended Gobo udon with Japanese burdock tempura. The burdock root was coated in light tempura batter and fried to a golden crisp. Omg so crunchy with a bearable earthy taste. The udon broth was so good too! I was gonna finish it but I was so full from eating the burdock root.

The udon noodles are smooth and soft which goes down the throat well. I was enticed by their latest Hiroshima Oyster Fiesta promo which features the Hiroshima oyster kakiage, Not to mention the oyster were all imported. There was 2 huge and briny oyster in the bunch of vegetable tempura. Their tonkotsu broth was creamy and so good too!!!

4) Marugame Singapore

Marugame Singapore is located in basement 4 of ION Orchard. Their specialty is Sanuki udon. Udon noodles are smooth and chewy.

I got the Beef Udon in Bonito Broth because I was craving for something different. I was expecting the beef to be tough.. coz most are but this one was tender and flavourful! This comes with broccoli and I paid for the seasoned egg. The sweet and savory bonito broth was so good too! Taste kind of like sukiyaki broth.

Apart from Matcha, they also have this togarashi flavor, if not just stick to the original. You choose how you want your udon to be cooked. I chose the Kamatama udon and it comes with a half-boiled egg. It is a soy sauce-based broth.
