REVIEW: Good mala and cafe food in Singapore: For Mala Tang, Boston lobster Laksa and Nordic Shrimp Mentaiko burger - Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang, PERCH singapore and Pinkfish Singapore

Checked out the new Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang 杨国福麻辣烫.

Some background information on Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang 杨国福麻辣烫, they started in China in 2003 and has expanded to have over 6,000 outlets in countries like Japan, Canada, and Australia. They currently have 2 outlets in Singapore. Their mala tang comes with 3 levels of spiciness from low, medium to extreme. There are 3 bases which are Spicy Mala Beef Broth, Tomato Broth, and Mala Ban. Like most mala tang shop, you pick and choose your ingredients and have them weighed. The cost of all the items is fixed at S$2.88 for 100 grams.

There was a long queue when I was at the Singpost outlet during dinner time. I ordered the tomato broth instead. 🤭 Who’s with me? 🙋🏼‍♂️ The tomato 🍅 broth was so velvety smooth, tangy, and rich. I added some of my fav ingredients such as luncheon meat, sausages, and potatoes.

Trying out this atas laksa from PERCH Singapore which is listed at Jewel Changi Airport! This creamy laksa pasta includes Al dente Capellini noodles, Bean Curd Skin, and half a Boston lobster. This comes with House Made Sakura Ebi Sambal which was mildly spiced. Wish that this could be spicier and the lobster is fresher. It is kind of chewy. I also ordered a cup of latte for myself which was served in this dainty dark blue cup and saucer. Check out Perch's Menu here.

They have interesting fusion dishes such OTAH-OTAH SLIDER “BAO”, DEEP FRIED BABY SQUID, BLUE SWIMMER CRAB CAKE, GREEN CURRY LINGUINE, TIGER PRAWN & SAKURA EBI CAPELLINI, and GRILLED BEEF RIBEYE WITH BLACK PEPPER SAUCE. I saw people ordering the PERSIMMON STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING which is also the recommended dessert there.

Make it a Christmas to Remember! Come celebrate 🎉 Xmas with Pinkfish Singapore with their new Limited Nordic Shrimp Mentaiko burger which will be available from now to end Dec 2020! 🦐

Nordic Shrimp Mentaiko burger brings together Sweet shrimp from Norway, mentaiko, and a generous serving of roe all wrapped in toasted brioche buns. This felt like mentaiko salad between a bun. So refreshing and palatable! Not to mention how fresh and crunchy the prawns are! The Xmas set comes with a warm bowl of creamy Nordic stew and smoothie. There are different sets, so you can go without the smoothie as well.
