REVIEW: Good porridge in Singapore: Hearty and nutritious porridge at Empress Porridge at Kent Ridge

I first saw this porridge on eatbook and was intrigued by them naming themselves Empress Porridge. They specialize in Teochew porridge which is not the thick kind but rather the grains well-separated as seen in the pictures below.


Their porridge consists of brown and white rice which is not easy to cook considering the different cooking times for each kind of rice. Nutritious and healthy!


Their porridge was cooked with dried scallops, cuttlefish, dried shrimps, braised peanuts, and tender pork collar. I thought this was quite well-done and every mouthful was delicious! There's a good umami flavor from the ingredients used such as the dried scallops and shrimps. I made it a set with their prawn paste chicken and lemon tea. The prawn paste chicken was boneless which was shiok! 


They also sell Singapore favorites such as claypot rice, Hainanese curry rice, pig trotter bee hoon, and comfort food like cabbage rice and kueh teng and olive rice.

They also have Tingkat delivery service that uses premium ingredients that not only bring back that nostalgic taste of home-cooked food but also introduce a wide variety of Asian, Japanese, Korean and Western cuisines.
