REVIEW: Good hawker food in Singapore: OG Lemak by Chef Shen Tan - Famous Twice steamed nasi lemak rice

I've been following Chef Shen Tan for a while now after seeing her as a guest host on a few episodes of Food King and seeing that she had a stall called OG Lemak at the Newton food centre. I had been wanting to go there for a long time and eventually went after work one day. I wanted to get the Chicken Rendang set, but it was sold out, so I went with the OG Lemak set and upsized it to chicken thigh.


Her famous twice-steamed nasi lemak, chicken thigh, fried egg, ikan bilis, cucumber slices, sambal belachan, and sambal tumis make up the OG Lemak set. Her nasi lemak, which has been steamed twice, is delicate and fluffy, with a mild lemak flavor rather than a powerful one. With 11 components, this takes 4 hours to prepare.


I was surprised at how huge the chicken thigh was. The skin was so crispy and the meat was so tender and juicy!! Both the sambal wasn't spicy but leaned towards tangy and sweet type.

Take your pick from the chicken rendang, crispy chicken, beef rendang, or vegetarian!
