Savour true-blue Kansas City BBQ Dishes by Chef Jimmy Cheang, Singapore’s only Kansas City-trained pitmaster, at SmokeHse by Esseplore

There are grill houses and there is SmokeHse by Esseplore, a true-blue American smokehouse showcasing Kansas City-style BBQ. Behind the smoke is Pitmaster Jimmy Cheang, a certified Kansas City Barbeque Judge who was a home chef before joining SmokeHse by Esseplore. Passionate about American Barbecue, he traveled to the United States in 2009 and trained under two multi-award-winning pitmasters, which makes him the authority on all things barbecue. Together with Executive Chef Yeo Kian Tiong, who is a serial F&B entrepreneur and seasoned executive chef of numerous restaurants, they came up with SmokeHse by Esseplore’s menu mainstays that are bound to tantalize the palate of the carnivorous eater. Signature BBQ Spanish Iberico Pork Ribs (S$68/1.2kg)

Tuck into a wide array of BBQ dishes here, all kissed with a smoky hint. Mains include the Signature BBQ Spanish Iberico Pork Ribs (S$68/1.2kg), which sees the meat dry-rubbed with an incredibly flavourful blend overnight. Then, it is glazed with a homemade Smoque BBQ sauce to a glistening finish. Beef lovers must not miss the Signature BBQ Smoked Beef Ribs (S$85), which are immersed in a spicy marinade, then barbecued to achieve a fall-off-the-bone texture. 

Smoked Beef Brisket (S$80)

Voracious eaters will revel in the Smoked Beef Brisket (S$80). USDA beef brisket is slathered with a special dry rub overnight, smoked with American Hickory Wood, and glazed with a mouth-watering homemade Smoque BBQ sauce.

BBQ Smoked Lamb (S$96/1.6kg)

For the BBQ Smoked Lamb (S$96/1.6kg), a 1.6kg deboned and trimmed shoulder is coated in the chef’s secret homemade marinade, then slow-roasted till the crust is beautifully caramelized. There is also the Smoked BBQ Chicken Thighs (S$16/4 pcs), which are brined for hours, dried and coated with a special dry rub, then smoked with American applewood. Tear apart the meat and dip it into the accompanying Smoque BBQ sauce to up the indulgence. 

Grilled Octopus (S$32/500g)

Fresh and rich in collagen, the Grilled Octopus (S$32/500g) is a testament to the chef’s finesse, as it requires precision barbecuing to ensure the seafood remains succulent and juicy.
