Burgs gives back this Ramadan with Special Edition Burgers and Care Packs

As we near Ramadan, fast-casual Muslim-owned burger brand Burgs is observing the holy month with special burger sets and bundles as well as a give-back charity effort.

Burgs recreate the familiar flavors of Ramadan bazaars like Chicken Satay Burger and Beef Roti John, complete with sides like Cheesy Butter Corn Cup and Bandung Soda Float. Muslim fans can break their fast with Ramadan bundles made for easy takeaways.

Returning to the true spirit of Ramadan – the spirit of empathy and thinking of the less fortunate – Burgs partners with The Food Bank Singapore and Nur Insan, Singapore’s only free madrasah, to give back to the community. Burgs will be preparing 50 care packs consisting of food essentials to distribute to low-income families and the less fortunate.

A Ramadan Menu Worth Fasting For

Especially for the occasion, Burgs looks to the signature flavors of Ramadan bazaars that every local knows and loves. These limited-time-only flavors will only be on sale from 2 April to 2 May 2022.

Chicken Satay Burger ($6.80)

Break your fast with a Chicken Satay Burger ($6.80), where a whole chicken thigh is marinated in a homemade satay sauce before being grilled to juicy perfection. In between two burger buns, it is layered with peanut sauce, fried shallots, sliced red onions, and cucumbers sliced length-wise for a true homage to the local Ramadan staple.

Roti John Burgs ($7.50)

Another enticing item is the Roti John Burgs ($7.50) where a beef patty is grilled with ghee and then coated with egg. Mildly spicy chili sauce, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, and cheese sauce are then slathered over it for an indulgent treat that is smoky and meaty in all the right ways.

Cheesy Butter Corn Cup ($2.50)

Accompanying them is a side of Cheesy Butter Corn Cup ($2.50) where loose corn kernels are steamed and coated with butter before being topped with heaps of grated cheddar cheese and spring onion.

Wash it all down with a Bandung Soda Float ($5.90), a sparkling take on the popular rose syrup drink. Sprite adds a fizzy body to the classic drink while Lotus Biscoff soft-serve sits atop it for a creamy addition that you can stir into the drink for a soda float with a local twist. This outlet-exclusive drink is only available at 313@somerset and VivoCity.

Giving back to those who need it most

Burgs will be preparing and delivering 50 care packs containing food essentials worth $70 each, in a partnership with Nur Insan and The Food Bank Singapore’s “Joy In Every Bundle Programme”. The Burgs’ founders are no strangers to hardship and have chosen to support families under Nur Insan, Singapore’s first free madrasah providing free education to children from low-income families and other forms of support to the less fortunate. These care packs will be delivered directly to the homes of needy families during the third week of Ramadan by the Burgs team to bring some Hari Raya cheer.

Brought to you by the same Michelin-trained Burger Boys

Burgs are burgers for the masses created by two young local chefs who cut their teeth in Michelin-starred restaurants and are driven to succeed by hardship.

Muhd Shah Indra Jasni, or Indra as he likes to be called, was first introduced to the high-stakes and high-pressure kitchens of fine dining at 2 Michelin-starred Saint Pierre Singapore. A stint at DB Bistro after that was where he learned to make proper burgers before he booked a one-way ticket to France to study at the prestigious Institute of Paul Bocuse in Lyon and landed a job at 2 Michelin-starred La Pyramide. He continued to pursue his dreams in Dubai at the restaurant Zengo. Before coming back to Singapore, after his mother suffered from a stroke leaving her bed-ridden. It was then, he met Ridz, with whom he got incredibly well along and shared the same dream of starting something of their own.

Mohd Ridzuan Ayob, or simply Ridz, is a Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (SHATEC) graduate who learned the hardest tools of the trade at 1 Michelin-starred Terra Tokyo Italian in Singapore. Among his proudest moments as a chef belongs to the time the restaurant received its first star – with him as part of the team that helped it earn the honor. Long nights and hard work are nothing new to Ridz, who has dreamt of being a chef since being inspired by a cartoon he saw as a child at the age of six. He started from the bottom and worked his way up with many burns and singes, both physical and emotional, along the way.

Six months of research and development and multiple modifications from their initial recipes later, they are proud to premiere Burgs by Warung Project.
