REVIEW: Good Japanese Soba restaurant in Singapore: Soba Kappo Reiwa @ Chinatown, Trengganu Street

Reiwa Soba has been on my list of to-try food places! They had 2 outlets previously but have seen closed down and re-opened in Chinatown with a new name, Soba Kappo Reiwa. I love the minimalist design outside with a wooden door. reminds me of Japan, a lot. They are located just a 2-min walk from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum and a 3-min walk from the Chinatown MRT station.

Address: 25 Trengganu St, #01-12, Singapore 058476

Opening Hours: 11.30am - 2.30pm, 5.30pm - 10pm

Their Reiwa Pork Soba, Wakasagi Tempura, and Fried Oysters with Fermented Butter were all delicious.

Their Pork soba comprises buckwheat soba, Spanish white pork, and homemade chili oil with a chicken and fish broth base. The soba had an earthy, somewhat nutty flavor, but the texture was a little firm, which I didn't like.

The sauce with the addition of chili oil was delicious, but not hot enough to warrant a severe heat rating. Because the noodles were a little bland, it was recommended to slurp them with the sauce!

Wakasagi Tempura is freshly fried and tasty, with a tender texture and light flavor. Squeeze some lemon for tang, and then dip into the sea salt. The best combination!

The Fried oysters were exceptionally plump and delicious! The accompanying fermented butter sauce is aromatic and buttery, complementing the oysters. The butter sauce adds richness and taste while keeping the delicious oyster brininess.
