REVIEW: Good Nasi Lemak in Singapore: Chong Pang Nasi Lemak @ Yishun

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak should be a well-known nasi lemak in Yishun, especially for those deployed to Chong Pang camp. Many people flock there for supper because they are open from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next day. This longstanding stall started in 1973 at the Chong Pang Village Food Centre.

I was there on a weekday evening. Though there was a queue to order, it moved rather quickly. There were many empty seats. I even saw some occupied by army boys having dinner.

Address: 447 Sembawang Rd, Singapore 758404
Opening: 5 pm - 6.30 am

As with other Chinese-style nasi lemak, Chong Pang Nasi Lemak provides a vast selection of sides for me to choose from. They also have dishes like Sambal sotong, and sambal prawns, sweet & sour chicken, etc.

I ordered their Nasi Lemak, which came with chicken wings, luncheon meat,  egg, tomato sauce potatoes, and sausage with sambal chili.
Their rice was light and fluffy, with a pronounced coconut flavor and pandan aroma.
The chicken wing had a crispy coating and tender flesh on the inside, but it could have been more flavorful. The batter was quick thick at some parts but was crunchy.
Their egg was not runny, which was a letdown.
Their chili was forgettable. Sweeter than spicy.
