Award-winning Chinese BBQ Restaurant Meow Barbecue Set to Sizzle in Singapore with First Overseas Outpost at Bugis+

Get ready to pamper your tastebuds at Meow Barbecue, the award-winning Chinese BBQ restaurant that is set to open its first overseas outpost right here in Singapore at Bugis+. The restaurant will officially open on 24 September 2022. 

For the uninitiated, Meow Barbecue, first founded in 2012 by Uncle Meow (猫叔), is legendary for attracting long snaking queues in China, even winning awards for its queues. With over 30 outlets across 10 major Chinese cities with the likes of Chongqing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing, Meow Barbecue has consistently ranked Top 10 BBQ Restaurants in China in various polls and awards, as well as won Dianping’s Must-Try Restaurant for four consecutive years. Celebrities such as Ada Choi, Zhang Jin, Monica Chan Fat-Yung, Lu Yi, and Ava Wang Ziwen have been spotted at various Meow Barbecue outlets as well.

Its cute name comes with an equally cute backstory. Its founder Uncle Meow had a pet cat since he was a child. Enamored by their gentle and regal nature, particularly their exquisitely picky tastebuds when it comes to food, he named his first restaurant Meow Barbecue猫抓烤肉, paying homage to the admirable qualities of cats. Meow Barbecue continues on his life-long love for cats, serving up delicious food for even the most discerning gourmand and promising something for everyone. 


     

Meow Barbecue in Bugis+ marks the brand’s first overseas outpost outside of China, bringing the signature variety of BBQ items crafted in adorable cat elements. The cuteness of cat paws and motifs can also be found all around the restaurant from the front entrance to the crockery used and various decorative ornaments in and around the space.

Dig into signature items like Beef Chuck Cubes with Onion 洋葱牛小粒 that sees deep marinated oyster blade beef cubes served on petals of onion for added sweetness and the Savory Beef Flank Steak (sliced) 秘制牛五花 that comes doused in a sauce discovered in Sendai, Japan. The Boneless Chicken Thigh with Szechuan Peppers (sliced) 藤椒鸡 is a treat for spice-lovers as the spiciest roast meat dish on the menu with green peppercorn and a secret house-made chili mix perfected following three long years of field research. Not to be missed is the Spicy Beef Flank (sliced) 泡椒肥牛 that brings to the table grain-fed 129-day-old sliced beef marinated with pickled chilies.
