White Restaurant Ushers in The Year of the Rabbit with Auspicious Chinese New Year Set Menus

White Restaurant, also fondly known as ‘The Original Sembawang White Beehoon’ Restaurant, is ready for the Year of the Rabbit with auspicious set menu offerings at its seven restaurants island-wide (excluding White Express at Tampines Mall). This year, White Restaurant makes it the most inclusive one yet with three different auspicious CNY Set Menus – Joyous, Prosperity, and Fortune Set – each customized for groups of 4, 6, 8, and 10, so there’s something for everyone no matter how big the size of your family and friends.

The set menus are available from 6 January to 5 February 2023 and require a 3-day in-advance pre-order. Orders can be made from 15 December 2022 onwards. Every set menu comes with a set of complimentary limited edition red packets and a Mandarin orange bag, while stocks last. Be entitled to a free Celebration Gift Set worth $51.20 featuring abalones in unique interesting flavors such as White Truffle, Sichuan Mala, Sichuan Green Pepper Mala, and Braised Dried Scallop for every booking of 6, 8, or 10 pax set menus on Chinese New Year Eve first, second and last seating, while stocks last. Every set ordered for takeaway and delivery also comes with a thermal bag to keep the food as fresh as possible, with the bag reusable for other purposes following the feast.

Alongside the festive sets, there is also a series of ala carte dishes from delicious roasts to fresh seafood to add to the festivities. Several dishes are making their debut this year including the Prosperity Bag with Broccoli and Mushroom, Steamed Halibut Fillet, and Prawn and Broccoli in XO Sauce. Grand Fortune Abalone Yusheng

Begin your feast by tossing up to a year of great fortune with White Restaurant’s Grand Fortune Abalone Yusheng ($49.90 S; $66.80 L). Luscious 18-head abalones are served with shredded winter melon, shredded dried persimmon, shredded carrot, shredded jellyfish, and buckwheat. For an added crunch, our specially curated yusheng comes with deep-fried shredded yam and is topped with grounded peanuts, pomelo, lemon leaf, and white sesame. Our specially concocted piquant yuzu sauce ties the dish together with a fruity fragrance and taste. As an ode to the Year of the Rabbit, every yusheng served will come decorated with an auspicious rabbit ornament to bring home.

The symbolism of prosperity continues with Prosperity Bag with Broccoli and Mushroom ($25.80) where savory fish meat and fish roe wrapped within beancurd skin are shaped to resemble the purse used to store gold and silver by ancient Chinese. The lucky money bag dumplings are served with crunchy and healthful broccoli and grounded with earthy oriental mushrooms. Fish tempts with an all-new Steamed Halibut Fillet ($18.80), steamed to pillowy soft tenderness. Also new on the menu is the Prawn and Broccoli in XO Sauce ($21.80) of sweet juicy large prawns and broccoli cooked in a savory housemade XO sauce.

The new dishes join more classic Chinese New Year staples including Deep Fried Marble Goby ($48 S; $68 L), Crispy Roasted Chicken ($28.80 1/2kg; $48.80 whole), Fatt Choy Shajing Oyster with Braised Pork Belly ($35.80), and Braised Crab Meat and Fish Maw Thick Soup ($12.80 one serving; $35.80 good for 4 persons) that have proven to be popular hits in years past. They all accompany the restaurant’s signature festive Abalone and Scallop White Beehoon ($12.80) simmered with the signature broth and topped with luscious 10-head abalone, scallops, and prawns for a festive feast on their own.

White Restaurant is spreading the auspiciousness across three curated set menus – Joyous, Prosperity, and Fortune Sets – each customized for groups of 4, 6, 8, and 10. Whichever set you opt for, your feast will begin with Grand Fortune Abalone Yusheng so diners can look forward to the fun and energetic ritual of ‘tossing up good fortune’. Each set is headlined by the signature White Beehoon 白米粉 with festive deluxe additions such as scallops and abalones.

The Joyous Set features highlights of Braised Crab Meat and Fish Maw Thick Soup, Prosperity Bag with Broccoli and Mushrooms, Steamed Halibut Fillet, Scallop White Beehoon, and Red Bean Paste with Glutinous Rice Ball for dessert.

The Prosperity Setups the ante with bolder flavors like Fresh Prawn Wanton Collagen Soup with Prawn Paste, Braised Pork with Shajing Oyster and Mushrooms, and Deep Fried Marble Goby, serving it alongside the signature Abalone White Beehoon and Peach Gum Cheng Tng for dessert.

The Fortune Set piles on the indulgence with highlights such as the Signature Triple Happiness of Meat & Seafood Roll, Signature Fried Wings and Homemade Fried Seafood Beancurd, Roasted Duck with Angelica Herbs, and Prawn and Broccoli in XO Sauce, all to go with the Abalone and Scallop White Beehoon.
