REVIEW: Good Chicken Rice in Bangkok, Thailand: Kuang Heng Pratu Nam Chicken Rice

Thai chicken rice, also known as Khao Man Gai, is a popular street food dish in Thailand. It consists of boiled or steamed chicken served over a bed of fragrant jasmine rice that has been cooked in chicken broth. The dish is often accompanied by a spicy chili sauce, a tangy ginger sauce, and a clear soup made from the chicken cooking liquid.

The rice is the star of this dish and is seasoned with garlic, ginger, and pandan leaves, giving it a unique flavor and aroma. The chicken is typically poached or steamed to a tender and juicy texture, and is then sliced and served over the rice.

Thai chicken rice is a simple and comforting dish that is enjoyed for its balance of flavors and textures. It is typically served for lunch or dinner and is often considered a comfort food in Thai cuisine.

I ate Kuang Heng Pratu Nam Chicken Rice on my last day in Bangkok. This is a famous chicken rice stall known by locals in Bangkok and has been around since 1932. I ordered their signature chicken rice (50 baht) and dried fish maw soup (60 baht). I think this is breast meat and it was tender. not bad! The rice wasn't clumpy which was good and more importantly it was flavorful and fragrant.

Address: 930 Phetchaburi Rd, Makkasan, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

Opening Hours: 7am - 10pm

The fish maw soup is more viscous than our regular one. Chock full of ingredients such as chunks of fish maw, chicken blood cubes, and quail eggs. It was flavorful with a more strong smell of the chicken blood cube.
