They are complemented by a select variety of Vietnamese dishes like pho and noodles as well as snacks and small plates like spring rolls, salads, and crackers that make Mrs Pho a perennial favorite among fans of Vietnamese cuisine.

SKEWERS TO SAVOUR

Drop by for a special focus on charcoal grilled skewers done to smoky perfection, a quintessential Vietnamese street food staple.

Classic skewers start from $1.80, presenting items like Grilled Kaffir Chicken that wraps succulent chicken meat with fragrant kaffir lime leaf, Grilled Betel Leaf Beef that fragrances juicy beef with the nuttiness of betel leaf as well as Grilled Mustard Cabbage with Chicken and Grilled Lemongrass Minced Chicken for sharp, punchy flavors. Grilled Eggplant presents sweet eggplant lent the lightest char to retain its sweetness while Grilled Zucchini brings the best of crunch and crispiness. Pork lovers have a variety to choose from simple loves like Grilled Pork Belly to more complex flavors of Grilled Mustard Cabbage with Pork as well as Grilled Pork Belly with Golden Mushroom. Miss not the all-new Grilled Potato of baby potatoes grilled to incomparable savouriness with a special soy sauce.

Premium skewers tempt with prices from $2.80, boasting bolder taste and textures like Grilled Lemongrass Minced Pork, Grilled Beef Skewer, and Grilled beef Roll with Golden Mushroom. Double meatiness is served with a Grilled Beef Roll with Sausage that wraps a chicken sausage with sliced beef and Grilled Lemongrass Minced Beef of minced beef wrapped around a lemongrass stalk and then grilled. Fresh catch from the river and also make it onto the menu with items like Grilled Mekong Style Tiger Prawn, Grilled Mekong Style Fish, and Grilled Mekong Style Squid, each brushed with a specialty house-made sauce that’s mildly spicy before being put over the open fire. Miss, not the Grilled King Oyster Mushroom, dressed in little more than a special soy sauce to let its natural flavors shine.

Perfect to go with them for the ultimate skewer party is ice-cold Saigon Beer ($8.80), the leading beer in Vietnam. Go the full mile with the Saigon Special Beer ($8.80), a lager made with 100% malt, hops, yeast, and water and no rice for almost zero calories and absolutely no preservatives.

Together, skewers and beer make for the perfect party needs for your next night out.

MAINS AND SIDES TO SATIATE

New on the menu are Glass Noodles ($6.80) of bity glass noodles tossed with mushrooms and a choice of scallion or mala oil, depending on whether you’re in the mood for umami or spice. There’s also an Egg Fried Rice ($6.80), wok-fried with garlic and egg, available also in choices of normal, spicy, or mala, each promising satiation. Bite into the juicy, tender whole chicken with explosive bouquets of lemongrass with the new Grilled Spring Chicken with Spicy Lemongrass ($22.80), charcoal grilled the traditional way for smokiness that lengthens the punch of lemongrass.

Pho continues to hold a special spot on the menu, but in pared-down back-to-basic versions, like Sliced Beef Pho ($9.80) served in a bowl of piping hot beef broth boiled for no less than 12 hours and Chicken Pho ($9.80) made with sous vide brined chicken in clear chicken stock. More smokiness is apparent in the Charcoal Grilled Meat Dry Noodles ($11.80) of springy dry vermicelli cooked with assorted grilled meat for the full game.

Complementing the above are sides like Prawn Crackers ($2.80), beyond crunchy bites sourced from the Soc Trang province for authenticity in flavor, and Fresh Summer Rolls ($4.80) available with grilled pork or chicken, dressed up with the full frills of lettuce, mint leaves, vermicelli and served with a housemade peanut sauce. Crunchier bites are available with the Fried Spring Rolls, available in vegetarian options ($3.80) made of yam, sweet potato, bean curd, and black fungus, or seafood ($6.80) stuffed with prawn, squid, and fish.

Salad options include the Papaya Salad ($8.80) a sour and spicy medley of julienned young papaya tossed with shredded beef and a housemade chili sauce. Last but not least, shellfish pickings entice with Mrs Pho Cockles ($13.80) of stir-fried cockles fragranced with pork lard, garlic, and chili, Lemongrass Lala ($15.80) of clams sauteed with lemongrass and lime leaf and Stir Fry Lala ($16.80) also cooked just right with pork lard, basil leaf, and chili.

Dessert brings the classic Crème Caramel ($3.80) that rings home a taste of colonial-era Vietnam.
