REVIEW: Good Greek Food in Melbourne: Stalactites Restaurant at Lonsdale Street Melbourne

You gotta check out Stalactites Restaurant in Melbourne! This place is totally insta-worthy with plaster stalactites hanging from the ceiling. It's been a top Greek spot in Melbourne forever, run by the Konstandakopoulos family since '78. You gotta try their delish souvlaki, homemade dips, and amazing grilled meats. And they've got some rustic dishes from Greece's Peloponnese region too. They're a 3-min walk from the State Library of Victoria. They're very popular and can be quite packed during lunch or dinner hours, so best to make reservations

Address: 177/183 Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

Opening Hours: Sun - Thurs 11am - 12am

Fri - Sat 11am - 2am

We ordered these dishes:

LAMB GIROS SOUVLAKI (20.5 AUD)

Premium-grade lamb shoulder giros sliced from the spit in pita

CHICKEN KEFTEDAKIA (24 AUD)

Traditional meatballs in sauce with spaghetti

So, let's talk Chicken Keftedakia! These meatballs are seriously moist and bursting with flavor from all the herbs and spices mixed in. But, I gotta be real with you, the spaghetti it comes with was kinda plain. Still, it's a pretty hearty and comforting meal overall.

PORK OREGANO (24 AUD)

Slow-cooked pork casserole with lemon juice, oregano, and extra virgin olive oil served with rice and potatoes

Now, the Pork Oregano is where it's at! This slow-cooked casserole is packed with so much flavor. The pork is tender and has this awesome tanginess from the lemon juice and earthy vibes from the oregano. And the extra virgin olive oil gives it a fancy, silky-smooth texture. Plus, the rice and potatoes that come with it soak up all the juicy goodness, making it even more delish.
