Fann Wong’s Fanntasy Bakes Commemorates Singapore’s 58th National Day with the New Memories Tart, Inspired by the Well-loved Ice Kachang Dessert for a Sweet Nostalgic Delight

As a proud Singaporean, acclaimed actress, singer, television host and self-taught baker Fann Wong wanted to celebrate alongside the nation on its 58th year of independence in the sweetest way she knows how: with a tart created especially for the country.

She digs deep into her fondest memories of growing up in Singapore and is delighted to unveil the new Memories Tart ($62), inspired by the sweet icy treat of everyone’s childhoods, the ice kachang.

The tart promises to be a nostalgic fusion of flavors and textures drawn from her fondest recollection of digging into the icy treat on a hot afternoon. A buttery sable is cushioned with a light and fluffy almond sponge dressed with aromatic gula melaka cremeux for the unmistakable toffee-like caramelization. Red bean puree, chendol jelly, almond bits, and diced attap seeds are then carefully layered atop for delightful bites. The final touch lies in the finishing of rose Chantilly cream, bringing the floral fragrance of the traditional rose syrup in ice kachang.

Return of All-Time Favourites

Alongside the new release, Fanntasy is also bringing back a selection of its crowd-favorite tarts, available only in limited quantities daily.

As voted by Fanntasy Bakes’ most loyal customers, the hot favorites include the Strawberry Hazelnut Bliss ($62) a luxurious combination of chocolate cremeux, hazelnut praline, and Valrhona strawberries whipped ganache on a chocolate sable crust, finished off with chocolate pearls, followed by the Pistachio Strawberry Tart ($65), a nutty white chocolate delight riddled with fragrant pistachio and refreshing strawberries on a pistachio sponge.

Miss, not the Yuzu Match Tart ($59), first unveiled for Mother’s Day featuring sweet and tangy flavors of matche cremeux lifted with a generous layer of zesty yuzu curd. The reigning number one is the Signature Valrhona Chocolate Tart ($58) of rich Valrhona chocolate cremeux made with Valrhona 70% dark chocolate on a layer of delicate almond sponge, which balances out the overall flavor.

The Memories Tart will go on sale beginning 1 August 2023 at 10.30am via Fanntasy Bakes’ website: https://fanntasybakes.com.sg/

All tarts are available while stocks last in limited quantities daily.

Fann Wong’s Baking Fanntasy Come True

Fanntasy is the manifestation of Fann Wong’s love for baking, founded online in October 2021 at the height of the Circuit Breaker period during the Covid-19 pandemic. Driven by her undying cravings for old-school bakes, Fann started recreating childhood treats like the Rainbow Bread from home, before moving on to the sophisticated tarts with delicate flavor profiles that make up Fanntasy’s current menu.

Fanntasy’s first creations drew from the favorite loves of Fann’s husband and son – chocolate and durian. The online pastry shop launched with its Signature Valrhona Chocolate Tart and Musang King Gula Melaka Tart, which were quickly snapped up in no time, selling more than 1,000 units in under 30 minutes. Today, Fanntasy releases new flavors seasonally based on Fann’s strike of inspiration. Previously for Mother’s Day, it has delightfully surprised with the Yuzu Matcha Tart as well as Raspberry Sakura Yogurt Tart.
