REVIEW: Good Claypot Chicken rice in Singapore: Sembawang Claypot Rice in Serangoon Nex Singapore

Sembawang Claypot Rice is nestled inside the bustling Food Republic at NEX Singapore
Upon arriving at Sembawang Claypot Rice, I couldn't help but notice the lively atmosphere of the food court. It was quite crowded, which meant finding seats required a bit of patience. However, don't let the bustling surroundings deter you; good things come to those who wait. To manage the crowd efficiently, I was handed a buzzer, and it took a short while for the claypot dish to be prepared – a testament to the restaurant's commitment to delivering quality food.

Address: NEX, 23 Serangoon Central, #B2 - 63 to 66, Singapore 556083
Opening Hours: 10 am - 10 pm

What sets Sembawang Claypot Rice apart from the rest is its dedication to tradition. Each dish is meticulously prepared over a charcoal stove, a time-honored method that imparts a unique and immediately recognizable flavor. This commitment to the old ways adds an authentic touch that elevates the entire dining experience. You can truly taste the difference that the use of charcoal brings to their dishes.

The dish was teeming with generous portions of large chicken pieces, luo cheong, salted fish, and an array of fresh vegetables. The rice, already well-mixed with its rich sauce and fragrant oil, promised an explosion of flavors with every bite.

What truly impressed me was the delightful charred layer at the bottom of the pot, a testament to their impeccable cooking technique. It's the kind of detail that makes you savor each mouthful just a bit more. However, if I were to offer a personal preference, I would have opted for boneless chicken, as the traditional chicken pieces can be a bit challenging to navigate.
