REVIEW: Good Cantonese wonton noodle in Penang: Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle in Penang, Malaysia

On our final day, we set out to discover Michelin Bib Gourmand breakfast spots and stumbled upon Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle in our search. The name "Tok Tok" originates from the onomatopoeic sound a chef makes while kneading noodle dough with a bamboo pole, a tradition still observed at the entrance of this establishment.

Address: 37, Lebuh Campbell, George Town, 10200 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

Opening Hours: 9.30 am - 7.30 pm

Opting for their renowned Signature tok tok mee, complete with char siew and vegetables, we supplemented our order with dumplings, eggs, and oysters. To complement our meal, we indulged in their pastries, including the Signature crispy BBQ pork pie and pandan kaya dumplings.

The bamboo-pressed noodles showcased a delightful bouncy and chewy texture, devoid of any traces of alkaline taste. While the char siew met our expectations, the highlight was the three wantons generously filled and huge.

Both pastries feature a crisp, golden-brown crust that envelops a generous filling of barbecue pork (char siew) and pandan. The outer layer provides a delightful crunch, perfectly complementing the succulent and flavorful char siew within, while the pandan imparts a sweet note. Both were exceptionally delicious!
