REVIEW: Good Char Kuey Teow in Penang: Penang Road Famous Jin Kor Char Kuey Teow 槟榔律驰名仁哥炒粿条 in Penang, Malaysia

Check out Penang Road Famous Jin Kor Char Kuey Teow 槟榔律驰名仁哥炒粿条, listed in the Michelin Guide. They are a long-standing stall with almost 40 years of operations. Situated within a coffee shop alongside other stalls, we opted for both the regular char kway teow and the version featuring duck eggs.

Address: 475, Jln Penang, George Town, 10000 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

Opening Hours: 9.30am - 5.30pm daily

In my opinion, the duck egg inclusion imparts a luxurious and savory taste to the dish. Duck eggs, known for their richer flavor compared to chicken eggs, contribute a more pronounced egginess, elevating the overall flavor of the dish. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Both dishes feature a stir-fry blend of shrimp, blood clams, lup cheong, and bean sprouts.

Penang Char Kway Teow represents a classic Teochew variant, characterized by its lighter taste, paler outlook, and absence of excessive sweetness found in typical Singaporean renditions, as it omits the use of sweet dark sauce. It is cooked until it achieves a drier consistency and a nice wok hei.
