REVIEW: Good Char Kuey Teow in Penang: Siam Road Charcoal Char Kuey Teow in Penang, Malaysia

Initially hesitant about trying Siam Road Charcoal Char Kuey Teow due to trying a different CKT place, I eventually decided to give it a try. However, the experience wasn't the most pleasant due to the non-air-conditioned setting and an extensive queue. The uncle cooking the CKT prepared each plate individually, leading to a considerable wait.

Address: 82, Jalan Siam, George Town, 10400 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

Opening Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

Closed on Monday and Sunday

Despite the inconvenience, we ordered four plates of CKT, two of them with added chili. The distinct wok hei flavor was evident, as the noodles were skillfully cooked over hot coals to achieve optimal wok hei. It became apparent why the BBC refers to the uncle as the 'Humble King of Noodles.' They are also Michelin bib gourmand recognized as well. The dish featured a delightful combination of flat rice noodles tossed with eggs, lup cheong, crunchy beansprouts, chives, cockles, and fresh shrimp. The result was exceptionally enjoyable!
