If you're a fan of cheese prata and find yourself wandering the vibrant streets of Toa Payoh in Singapore, chances are you'll stumble upon Rahmath Cheese Prata. Situated in the bustling Toa Payoh Vista Market, this eatery has garnered quite a reputation, thanks to numerous glowing reviews circulating the blogosphere. Intrigued by the hype, I decided to pay a visit and see what the fuss was all about.
Address: Toa Payoh Vista Market, Lor 4 Toa Payoh, #01-08 Block 74, Singapore 310074
Opening Hours: 6 am - 2.30 pm
Upon perusing the menu, I was disappointed to learn that some items were out of stock during my visit. Nevertheless, undeterred, I decided to go for their famed cheese prata, opting for both the classic cheese prata with egg and the cheese prata with egg and onion.
The pratas' golden-brown exteriors glistened under the fluorescent lights of the market. Breaking into them, I was immediately struck by the perfect balance of fluffiness and crispiness—a testament to the skill of the prata makers at Rahmath.
However, as I took my first bite, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. While the cheese was undoubtedly present, it was not evenly distributed throughout the prata, resulting in some bites being disappointingly devoid of that gooey, stretchy texture I had been craving. It was clear that Rahmath's cheese prata fell short of delivering the satisfying ooze factor that sets apart a truly exceptional cheese prata experience.
Despite this minor setback, the flavors were still enjoyable. The combination of egg and cheese added a comforting richness to each bite, while the hint of onion in the second prata provided a subtle yet pleasant contrast.
