My recent culinary adventure took me to the heart of Thailand, where I had the opportunity to try the famous Somsak Claypot Crab for the first time. This iconic restaurant, particularly known for its Charoen Rat outlet, has been delighting locals and tourists alike for many years with its exceptional seafood dishes. Their commitment to culinary excellence has not gone unnoticed, as they proudly hold the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
Address: 234 Lat Ya Rd, Khlong San, Bangkok 10600, Thailand
Opening Hours: 3pm – 9.30 pm, Closed on Monday
Upon my visit, I decided to indulge in the roasted roe crab with glass noodles, a dish that has garnered rave reviews. From the first bite, it was clear why Somsak Claypot Crab has earned such acclaim. The glass noodles were a revelation, having soaked up the savory soy sauce to perfection. Each mouthful was bursting with deep, rich flavors that danced on the palate.
The crab meat was another highlight of the dish. Exceptionally fresh and tender, it provided a sweet and luxurious touch that elevated the overall experience. Every bite of the crab meat was a testament to the quality and freshness of the ingredients used. However, the roe was slightly overcooked, which made it a bit challenging to extract from the shell. Despite this minor hiccup, the dish remained a delightful and memorable part of my meal.
