REVIEW: Good Hidden rooftop cafe in Singapore: Frankie & Fern's in Holland Village Singapore

Finding Frankie & Fern's can be a challenge since it's tucked away on a rooftop, accessible only via a specific lift. However, despite its hidden location, this cafe is incredibly popular on weekends, often drawing long queues. Luckily, we made a reservation in advance. The menu offers many options, from breakfast items and toast to pasta and hearty mains like ribs and chicken.

When you're there, don’t miss out on trying the toast and pasta that I enjoyed. The Fern’s Avocado Toast features a delicious combination of sun-dried tomatoes, burrata, chickpeas, rosemary-pickled soy tomatoes, and dukkah for a flavorful twist. The Fern’s Avocado Toast had a delightful contrast of textures and tastes, with the creaminess of the burrata and avocado playing beautifully against the tangy, rosemary-pickled soy tomatoes and the crunch from the dukkah. The sun-dried tomatoes added a slightly sweet and intense flavor that made each bite satisfying.

The Portobello Toast comes with French toast, truffle cream cheese, brie cheese, roasted portobello, mushroom tuile, yuzu apple, and honey emulsion, offering a rich and satisfying bite. The Portobello Toast was a more decadent option, with the richness of the truffle cream cheese and brie cheese melding perfectly with the earthy, roasted portobello mushrooms. The French toast base added a subtle sweetness, complemented by the honey emulsion and the slight tartness of the yuzu apple. The mushroom tuile provided a crisp texture that elevated the dish.

For pasta lovers, the Butternut Pumpkin Rigatoni is a standout dish with goat cheese, sage, brown butter, and hazelnut, delivering a cozy and indulgent flavor. The Butternut Pumpkin Rigatoni was a standout with its comforting flavors. The roasted butternut pumpkin brought a natural sweetness to the dish, balanced by the tangy goat cheese and the nuttiness of the brown butter and hazelnuts. The sage added a fragrant, herbal note that tied all the elements together beautifully.
