REVIEW: Good Japanese food restaurant in Orchard Singapore: NEW Izakaya Menu at Aburi-EN

Aburi-EN, a renowned Japanese restaurant chain, has long been celebrated for its top-notch flame-seared (“aburi”) dishes, particularly their exquisite wagyu beef and Buta donburis. This year, they’ve expanded their menu to include 20 delectable Izakaya items, all priced under $10. These dishes are perfect for pairing with their tempting 1-for-1 highballs and beer offers!

Sharing some of the items I like!

Hokkaido Buta Bara Asparagus Kushiyaki

This skewer dish showcases tender pork belly (buta bara) from Hokkaido, perfectly grilled alongside fresh, crisp asparagus. The pork belly is marinated in a savory sauce that enhances its flavor and keeps it juicy and flavorful during grilling. The combination of the rich pork and fresh asparagus is a delightful treat for your taste buds.

Crab Cream Croquette

Crab Cream Croquette is a delicious Japanese dish with a crispy, golden-brown exterior and a creamy filling made from succulent crab meat. It was incredibly tasty, though a bit messy to eat! The croquettes are perfectly seasoned, and the creamy crab filling is a luxurious treat that melts in your mouth.

Sumibi Chicken Yaki

Sumibi Chicken Yaki features juicy, tender pieces of chicken grilled over charcoal, giving it a smoky, rich flavor. You can’t go wrong with this dish! The charcoal grilling process infuses the chicken with an unparalleled depth of flavor, making each bite an explosion of taste.

Sweet Corn with Butter Shoyu

This dish features fresh, juicy corn kernels sautéed to perfection and then glazed with a luscious blend of butter and soy sauce (shoyu). The sweetness of the corn pairs beautifully with the rich, savory flavors of the butter shoyu, creating a delightful contrast that makes each bite incredibly satisfying.

Pork Gyoza

Another delightful addition to Aburi-EN’s izakaya menu is the Pork Gyoza. These Japanese dumplings are filled with a savory mixture of finely ground pork, cabbage, and aromatic seasonings. Each gyoza is expertly pan-fried to achieve a crispy, golden-brown exterior while maintaining a juicy, flavorful filling.
