REVIEW: Good Brunch Cafe in Singapore: GRUB cafe at Bishan Junction 8 Singapore

Went to GRUB for dinner with a friend a while ago. GRUB is located within Bishan Junction 8. Grub is definitely one of the best places to have Brunch.

Sakura Ebi Pasta (SGD 17)

For a taste of the sea, I opted for the Sakura Ebi Pasta priced at SGD 17. Though prepared in the aglio olio style, I found it slightly dry, reminiscent of dry BCM. However, the dish redeemed itself with a delightful combination of mentaiko sauce, fried sakura ebi, and succulent prawns. While enjoyable, I believe a more generous serving of mentaiko would elevate the experience.

Churros (SGD 9)

Accompanying my meal were the Churros, priced at SGD 9, served with dark chocolate and tangy creme Anglaise sauce. Delivered warm, these churros boasted a crispy exterior and a soft interior, making them perfect for a satisfying afternoon tea break.

Mala Xiang Guo Burger 麻辣香锅堡 (SGD 19)

One of GRUB's innovative creations, the Mala Xiang Guo Burger priced at SGD 19, caught my attention. Inspired by the popular mala xiang guo dish, this burger features spicy Szechuan peppercorn, chili oil, and Mala Mayo, encapsulated between beetroot buns. With familiar ingredients like luncheon meat and lotus root slices, this fusion burger delivers a fiery kick, paying homage to its traditional counterpart.

Bacon Carbonara (SGD 17)

Next on my gastronomic journey was the Bacon Carbonara, priced at SGD 17. Boasting a generous sprinkle of cheese and a tantalizing egg yolk, this dish impressed with its creamy texture and flavorful homemade thick-cut bacon. As the egg yolk melded into the pasta, it thickened the sauce, creating a harmonious blend of flavors without overwhelming the palate.

Grub Kaya Burnt Cheese Cake (SGD 9)

To conclude the meal on a sweet note, I indulged in the Grub Kaya Burnt Cheese Cake priced at SGD 9. Combining the beloved flavors of kaya and cheesecake, this dessert delighted with every bite, highlighting the distinct taste and fragrance of kaya in each creamy mouthful.
