REVIEW: Good Cafe food in Singapore - The Workbench Bistro at Ang Mo Kio (Permanently Closed)

Wanted to visit more cafes in the Ang Mo Kio in the afternoon after my dental appointment! So I have been to Rainbow Cottage already. The Workbench is next on my list! I think this may be the cafe that is nearest to the MRT Station. It is rather quiet although it is lunch time.

The cafe is quite spacious with alfresco seating outside. I feel that the cafe is quite 'empty'? There is not much decor around the cafe. Very simplistic and industrial with grey cement wall and concrete flooring . There isn't even anything on the table. Not sure if this is wise on the long run. They could at least put some flowers or what on their table?

Also not sure how they derive this name. Definitely quiet enough for people to work though. Would be even better if they had free WIFI.

Address: Blk 332 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, #01-1881 Singapore 560332
Opening Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 12pm to 10pm
Sunday 10am to 10pm
Closed on Monday

Apart from some dishes such as Beef Lasagna(SGD $11.00), Carbonara(SGD$14.00) and Crab Meat Linguine(SGD $16.00), the cafe serves waffles, ice creams and various beverages(coffee and tea).

I ordered the beef burger(SGD $14.00). It comes with a generous serving of paprika fries. Although the beef patty is moist and nice, the surface is burnt though. The burnt portion is covered by the cheese. >_>

Ate this Salted Egg Chicken Pasta with crispy Chicken Chop($15.90) today. The linguine is al dente but i feel that the chili padi is kind of overpowering the saltiness of the salted egg yolk sauce? The chicken cutlet was crispy and nice though.
