嘿人部落麻辣关东煮 - Hei Ren Bu Luo Mala Oden Noodles [Guan Dong Zhu] review

The hottest cup noodle fad to sweep Singapore has to be suan la fen. In fact, this has been going on for some time already. With Phase 2 (heightened alert) going on now, instant noodles are one of the work-from-home or work-in-office comfort food. I think those in the office should minimize traveling out to packet food. This is what I have been practicing now.

Hei Ren Bu Luo's mala oden, which consists of fishballs and a striped fishcake with roe filling, is popular. If you have been following my IG, I have been craving oden for a while now and a friend discovered this at a stall at Bishan Junction 8 that sells china products. Small shop but they have a lot of variety!

It comes in compact squarish containers with individually packaged seasonings and sauces with vacuum-sealed contents that look nothing like the one on the packaging.

You can get these as usual on Shopee.

For those who don't know what is oden, Oden is a one-pot dish in Japan that includes a variety of fish balls, fish cakes, deep-fried tofu, hard-boiled eggs, konnyaku, and vegetables stewed in a soy sauce-based dashi broth.

Fishballs and a striped fishcake with roe filling are among the ingredients in this Hei Ren Bu Luo Mala Oden noodle. The sweet potato noodles were springy, which I like, and the entire dish doesn't look particularly satisfying for lunch or dinner, but more for supper, in my opinion. The soup isn't as numbing and spicy as it appears, but it's really fatty, so I wouldn't drink it.
