RECIPE: Gyeran Bap (Korean Egg Rice)

Gyeran bap (pronounced geh-ran-bap) is a Korean meal that literally translates to "egg rice". I know how lazy I am and sometimes I just want to cook something with whatever I have in my refrigerator. This one was a breeze to put together!

I saw this on mangos home kitchen and thought this meal looks so easy to make! It's a quick dish that takes less than 10 minutes to create and just calls for a few items that you probably already have on hand. How can boiling rice, fried eggs, and pantry condiments like sesame oil and soy sauce provide so much pleasure? Garlic chips and mala tofu were added to spice things up.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large egg
1 cup cooked medium-grain rice
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil

Method:

1) How to make your egg: Melt butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat (or heat oil). In the pan, crack an egg. Cook for 3 minutes, or until the white has set completely. Season with salt and pepper after removing from the pan.

2) Assemble your Gyeran Bap: Place the cooked rice into a shallow bowl or dish, drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the top, and top with the egg.
