RECIPE: Hong Kong Style Instant Noodles 港式公仔面

Hong Kong Style Instant Noodles 港式公仔面 is a cheap and quick breakfast served in Hong Kong tea cafés (茶餐廳). It features a sunny-side-up egg, crispy Luncheon meat, and Hong Kong's favored Doll brand instant ramen (the brand, gong zai mein, is synonymous with instant noodles in HK).

Our travel bubble with Hong Kong did not happen every time and our minister has even renamed that to travel corridor jokingly coz he thinks the word "bubble" is jinxed. hahaha Because we won't be able to travel, for the time being, eating this Hong Kong Style Instant Noodles reminds me of the delicious food in Hong Kong, and I look forward to the day when I will be able to do it again. This isn't bad for an instant noodles dish because it includes an egg, luncheon meat, and greens all in one bowl.

I used the 出前一丁 Nissin brand instant noodles because it is closest to the Hong Kong version?

Ingredients

2 cups water
1-2 slices of Luncheon meat
1 package chicken flavored instant noodles
1 egg
1 stalk baby shanghai green or baby bok choy

Method:

1) Cook the sunny-side-up egg. Set aside on a plate.
2) Pan-fry the luncheon meat until lightly seared on both sides. Set aside on a plate.
3) Cook noodles according to the packaging instructions. Set aside once done.
4) In a small pot, add 500ml of water and bring to a boil. Add the soup powder.
5) Add the greens and cook for about 15 seconds. Drizzle the sachet of sesame oil over the noodles.
6) Ready to serve. Garnish with the fried sunny side up egg, luncheon meat/ham & greens.
