REVIEW: Good hawker food in Singapore: Ipoh Horfun at Chiderful 吃淂福 opened by ex-RWS chef

I first saw Chiderful 吃淂福 when I was looking at where to have Hor Fun. They are located at City Plaza Mall and at a quiet corner of the mall. This stall is opened by a retrenched RWS chef. He is now operating the eatery on his own when his business partner bailed on him. The eatery 吃淂福 can be translated to Feel blessed when eating. I guess the concept is creating dishes to make people feel blessed when eating. Actually many dishes on his menu are dishes that Singaporeans ate since young like seafood soup, fried rice, omelet, and drunken chicken. I'm sure people will find comfort in eating his food.

The dish that I ordered is the Ipoh Hor Fun. The smooth and slippery horfun, when served, was already well-tossed in the sauce consisting of dark soy sauce and oyster sauce and topped with deep-fried shallots. This dish was savory and fragrant. The traditional Ipoh horfun comes with bean sprouts but their version has opt-out of that. They still have chicken and vegetables. Their poached chicken although lacking in flavor, but can just toss it around in the noodle for flavor. It was so tender though!

They have a weekly menu serving local tze char and also Ipoh food such as horfun and their chicken rice. Covid-19 has really hit the local food scene hard and many are struggling due to the ever-changing safe-management measures. Let's do our part in supporting local businesses!
