Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks Collaborates with Meat Zero to Launch First Ever Guilt-Free Meat Zero Hero Ricebox

A collaboration you never knew you needed – Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks has teamed up with Meat Zero to launch its first-ever Meat Zero Hero Ricebox (Meat-Zero 英雄便當). If you’re a fan of the signature braised meat box but have had too much meat lately, this Meat Zero Hero Ricebox has got you covered. Based on a Euromonitor International report entitled “Voice of the Consumer: Health and Nutritional Survey (fielded January/ February 2021)”, 23% of global consumers want to reduce their meat consumption and 16% are aiming for a plant-based diet. This has spurred demand for meatless food options. With customers’ welfare in mind, Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks was motivated to provide more options for the spike in demand for meatless options.

Simmered low and slow, the flavor of braising sauce from an old Taiwan recipe is thoroughly immersed into the ‘minced meat’, sliced beancurd, and egg. This umami combination is juxtaposed with housemade pickled vegetables to cut through the richness and pulled together with fluffy short-grain rice.

Made from mainly soybean, red beet, bamboo fiber, and other plant-based products, Meat Zero’s ‘minced meat’ looks and tastes like the real deal, without the large environmental impacts. Ready to absorb sauces and gravy, this ‘minced meat’ will be an easy transition for usual meat-eaters looking for a lighter option after an indulgent week.

The Meat Zero Hero Ricebox (U.P. $7.90) will be retailing at $6.90 at all Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks outlets except for AMK Hub and NEX from 1 March – 30 April 2022. Complete the experience with Sweet Plum Potato Fries and Freshmade Drink from their Value Set (U.P $11.50) at only $10.50. The new launch will also be available for delivery via GrabFood, Foodpanda and Deliveroo.*

About Meat Zero

Thailand’s best-selling plant-based since its launch in 2020, Meat Zero utilizes a high-moisture meat analog process to texturize vegetable proteins to a fibrous texture akin to poultry. It took more than three years to produce the plant-based meat products and 2,000 experiments helmed by hundreds of researchers and teams from CPF Food Research and Development Centre. MEAT ZE-RO obtained the intellectual property right to the Plant-Tec innovation by partnering with world-class plant-based product manufacturer Fuji Oil from Japan and experts from the U.S and Taiwan.
