Maguro Yukimitsu, a New Fast Casual Sushi Concept by Renowned Maguro Trawler Misaki Megumi Suisan, Opens at Takashimaya

Introducing Maguro Yukimitsu, a new fast-casual sushi concept brought to you by Misaki Megumi Suisan! The maguro trawler is also responsible for the launch of Maguro Brothers at itadakimasu by PARCO at 100AM, Kuro Maguro at Gucco Tower, MAGURO-DONYA MIURA-MISAKI-KOU SUSHI & DINING (MAGURO-DONYA) at Suntec City as well as 20 restaurants around Japan. Here at the cozy, 16-seater fast-casual concept, you can tuck into a specially curated assortment of offerings across sushi, rolls, and don categories.

Misaki Megumi Suisan is a wholesaler of maguro and sashimi in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Misaki Megumi Suisan supplies maguro and fresh fishes from Miura Misaki harbor, a landmark of Japan where fantastic maguro abounds all year round. A great master of maguro is on deck to cull high-quality tuna from the catch. The chefs will then practice shinkei-jime, which is the Japanese tradition of inserting a spike into the hindbrain and destroying the spinal cord. Doing so would stop the production of lactic acid, and in turn, the quality of the fish can be maintained. The tuna is then kept in a minus-60-degree freezer to maintain its freshness all year round.

As such, the maguro offerings are at the peak of their freshness. Maguro Yukimitsu’s must-try highlights include Maguro Zukushi (S$38.80), an exquisite platter that comes with 4 maguro cuts as well as negitoro temaki. Can’t decide which sushi to get? The Matsu Sushi (S$31.80) offers you a variety of oceanic treasures, from shrimp to ikura, hotate to unagi. Another not-to-be-missed dish is the eight-piece Premium Otoro Roll (S$32.80) — the melt-in-the-mouth fatty tuna belly is draped over sweet, vinegared rice. For something unique, go with the Maguro Cheese Roll (S$19.80). The cheese adds a mild flavor that complements the fish’s sweet, buttery note.

There are also don offerings to discover at the outlet. The Toro Uni Don (S$39.80) sees the holy matrimony of tuna underbelly with the umami sea urchin. For the Tekka Don (S$19.80), it offers a generous amount of beautifully-cut sashimi-grade tuna served with pearly grains of Japanese rice. Perennial favorites such as Unagi Don (S$19.80) and Salmon Ikura Don (S$21.80) as well as a la carte sushi such as Boiled Ebi (S$2.80), Tai (S$4.20) and Akami (S$4.80) are available here too.
