Crafted naturally with authenticity, every scoop of Vanda is a labor of love made entirely from scratch with the best ingredients sourced from around the world. Each serving of Vanda is made using traditional gelato-making techniques by Italian Chef Loris Massimini, combining premium teas, natural herbs, and Botanics of the tropics. Chef Loris learned the delicate art of gelato-making from the legendary Manuele Presenti of Chiccheria Gelateria, one of the best gelato shops in Italy, to present the truest flavor of gelato at Vanda. 

Vanda explores the unique harmony of tropical botanical flavors alongside locally inspired and classic favorites. Teas, flowers, and herbs are infused for hours to extract the most intense flavors from the all-natural premium ingredients, promising gelato that bursts with florals and fruitiness unlike any other.


 

GELATO OF THE TROPICS

Signature Gelatos ($3.90 per scoop) at Vanda bring clever recipes married by skilled culinary know-how to best extract the flavors of the all-natural ingredients used in their making. Exemplifying that very essence is the Chrysanthemum Goji Berries, a creamy and floral delight that draws the delicate floral fragrance from a 36-hour infusion of chrysanthemum flowers from Zhejiang, Tongxiang. The flower bulbs are further blended into the gelato for taste and texture with a final addition of goji wolfberries for a hint of sweetness. The Poached Pear Walnut is light yet fragrant pear sorbet. Pear is poached and lightly spiced with cloves, cinnamon, and star anise before giving a crunch of chopped walnuts for an unconventional veil of mild tannins. Fans of matcha ice cream are in for a treat with the alternatives of Sencha gelato, made with steamed Japanese sencha leaves and infused for 36 hours, or Oolong gelato, made with oolong black tea from Fujian, Anxi. Also, infused for no less than 36 hours for a bold and fragrant gelato that brings subtle bitterness with hints of honey notes. Last but not least is the Black Sesame, an intensely nutty and complex gelato that brings it all in terms of flavor profiles. Made from freshly blended sesame seeds from Japan’s Mie Prefecture, it turns from sweet and salty to slightly bitter, then smoky, peppery, and finally earthy.

Also not to be missed is the Salted Caramel made from caramel melted over low heat to lend it the mildest hint of smokiness. A gentle lace of salt teases the palate with some savouriness to go with the sweet, resulting in a silky gelato that tempts with the notes of roasted butter with an intense long tail.

Premium Gelatos ($4.90 per scoop) entice with the finest natural-origin ingredients. Taste them in flavors like the Coconut Pandan made by infusing locally grown pandan leaves for 12 hours to extract all its fragrance before finely blending the leaves to the coconut base along with tender Thai coconut pulp. The result is a rich, creamy gelato that is milky and mildly sweet on the lips and blooms with the aromatics of melted butter on the nose. The Yogurt Raspberry is a rich yet refreshing option, made of creamy rich yogurt sweetened with swirls of French raspberry jam and fruits. Fresh raspberries are added and blended into the body of the gelato before being churned for a sweet and tangy refreshing treat. Something more indulgent presents itself with the Salted Gula Melaka, made from Indonesian coconut palm sugar slowly melted and caramelized over low heat before being mixed into the gelato. A sprinkling of Okinawa sea salt gives every lick flavor of toffee with a prized roasted coffee aftertaste. The Pistachio is nutty and luscious, made from the buttery smooth paste of Californian USA pistachios to coat the palate with a piney earthiness. The Bacio (Dark Chocolate Hazelnut) is made for the chocolate aficionado with a rich and nutty chocolate gelato made from 70% dark chocolate smoothly blended with hazelnut paste from Turkey. The nuttiness of hazelnuts pulls out the bittersweetness of chocolate for an indulgent chocolatey treat that is bold and well-balanced. An all-time favorite is the Single Origin Vanilla Bean, delivering the classic marriage of fresh milk with vanilla beans from South Java, Indonesia presenting an incomparable smooth creaminess of bold vanilla notes.

The cones are a crunchy treat made from a unique blend of flowers including lavender and sakura, laced with fragrant herbs such as basil, thyme, and rosemary, perfect for bringing out the natural flavors of the gelato.
