REVIEW: Good Japanese inspired Fish & Chips restaurant in Farrer Park Singapore: Frying Fish Club (FFC)

I recently discovered Frying Fish Club (FFC) through their earlier collaboration with Creamier. Located in the Farrer Park area, this eatery offers a unique twist on traditional fish and chips by using shiro maguro instead of the usual haddock or cod. Their Japanese-inspired menu is a delightful fusion of flavors and textures, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts.

Signature Fish & Chips with a Twist
One of the highlights of our visit was their Signature Fish & Chips. This dish is served with crunchy fries and edamame, all drizzled with a refreshing yuzu miso sauce. The fish was expertly fried with a thin, crispy batter encasing tender, firm flesh. The yuzu miso sauce was a perfect blend of tangy, citrusy yuzu and savory, umami miso. This combination provided a slightly sweet and tart flavor that cut through the richness of the fried fish, making each bite incredibly satisfying.

A Taste of Nanban
We also tried the Nanban, a dish that comes with apple slaw and nanban sauce. The tangy and slightly sweet nanban sauce created a delightful contrast with the fried fish. The apple slaw added a refreshing crunch, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Complementary Delights
To complement my meal, I ordered the creamy miso clam soup. This rich and flavorful soup was a great addition, warming the palate and providing a comforting taste. We also shared the fried calamari, which was perfectly fried to a golden crisp. Although I still avoided the tentacles, the other parts were delicious, especially when paired with the seasoned mayo.

Frying Fish Club is a gem in the Farrer Park area, offering a refreshing take on fish and chips with their Japanese-inspired menu. The use of shiro maguro and creative sauces like yuzu miso and Nanban set them apart from the usual fare. While I found the portion of sauce a bit scant, the overall experience was delightful, and the expertly fried fish and calamari were highlights of the meal. If you're in the area and looking for a unique and satisfying dining experience, Frying Fish Club is definitely worth a visit.
