10 Dakota food spots you can try!

1) Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow è€ć€«ćç‚’çČżæĄ

Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019. There was a queue when I was there. It seems like they have a queue number system and I have gotten the auspicious number 88 which the assistant said "Huat huat". lolol

It seems like they do not serve on plates at the moment as I asked multiple times and they say everything is served takeaway style regardless of whether you're eating there. This was fried plate by plate too. Really appreciate these hawkers who make an effort to ensure their customers get quality food.

Not the most wok hei-laden plate of char kway teow but this wasn't very moist and had a well-balanced flavor that was not too sweet. Props for not having soggy bean sprouts like most stalls.

2. Western Barbeque

This stall at Old Airport Road appeared in many top lists for Western Food. The grilled tender chicken chop was drizzled in this delicious sweet garlic sauce and was served with coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries, sunny side up, and butter bread. It can't get any old school than this. Remember to ask for their signature garlic sauce!!!

3. Hua Kee Hougang Famous Wan Ton Mee èŻèš˜ćŽæžŻç„–ć‚łéŠłćé›Č搞éș”

Hua Kee Hougang Famous Wanton Mee èŻèš˜ćŽæžŻç„–ć‚łéŠłćé›Č搞éș” is located at Old Airport Road which is home to much yummy food and I have been there way too many times. Not to mention that they are included in the Michelin guide as well. Their noodles are QQ in texture and the wanton is solid but the char siew is too dry.

4. Tiong Bahru Lor Mee @ Old Airport Road äžćł‡ć€éą

The Lor Mee at Tiong Bahru Lor Mee comes with crispy battered fish, ngor hiang, and braised egg and boasts thick viscous gravy that holds everything together.  It is gooey, starchy, and flavorful.

5. Hin Fried Hor Fun with Prawn · Beef · Sliced Fish

I have been to Old Airport Road Food Centre numerous times to try out different famous food stalls. 興 Hin Fried Hor Fun is not the same as the one at Ghim Moh. I only came to the one at Old Airport Road Food Centre because it is at a convenient location. They have a variety of hor fun such as with prawns and sliced fish and also mui fan with the same ingredients. Prices are also affordable from $5 - $6. They are accessible from Mountbatten and Dakota MRT Station.

The Hor fun seems like it may be precooked which is common amongst stalls that specialize in Hor Fun. Although not the silkiest smooth that I have tried, this has a well-balanced wok hei. Look at the charred edges on the hor fun!

Every single beef slice is superbly tender. Can you see that the hint of pink in the middle equals tender beef!
