Mee Rebus which directly translates to “boiled noodles” in English is a Malay noodle dish that is thickened with potatoes. It is a popular dish here in Singapore and is usually topped with a hard-boiled egg, spring onions, beansprouts, and crispy fried shallots.
Mee Soto is a comforting and aromatic Indonesian dish that consists of yellow egg noodles served in a flavorful chicken broth. The broth is infused with various spices like turmeric, coriander, and lemongrass, giving it a rich and slightly spicy flavor with a hint of warmth. The soup is typically topped with shredded chicken, bean sprouts, fried shallots, and fresh herbs like cilantro and spring onions, adding layers of texture and freshness. It’s often accompanied by a side of sambal chili for added heat and a squeeze of lime to brighten the flavors, making it a perfect balance of savory, tangy, and spicy. Mee Soto is a popular choice for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch, especially in Southeast Asia.
I have tried 10 Muslim stalls and compiled them into a list. All of them are Muslim owned, thus halal. enjoy~
1) Rahim Muslim Food
Wow, it was absolutely amazing! They added satay sauce on top, which you mix in, and gives the dish a sweet and spicy twist with a hint of savory goodness. Plus, they serve it with a generous chunk of chicken, similar to what you’d find in their Mee Soto. It’s a must-try, must-try, must-try! Highly recommended to order the Power Mee Rebus.
Rahim Muslim Food is a well-established stall in Ang Mo Kio with over 60 years of experience. No wonder their mee rebus tasted so incredible!

2) Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebus
Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebus is located at Haig Market and Food Centre. Just from the viscosity of the gravy, I was excited already. This apparently thickened with sweet potato puree and the gravy was made using shrimp, flower crab, and mutton, Surprisingly it's not very sweet but savory instead, This was topped with spring onions, green chili, fried shallots, lime, and coriander.
Another longstanding shop that has been operating since 1967. That's almost 54 years already!

What a comforting meal this was! Yunos N Family should be familiar with people living at Ang Mo Kio. They have been around since 1979. lol, The recommended dish to order here is the Mee Rebus. They have a lot of options for Mee Rebus and I chose the drumstick. The gravy was a bit gritty but rich and nutty! This comes with an egg, tau kwa, chili, dried shrimp, and halved lime.

I actually tried the Nasi Lemak at Siti Nur Liyana Nasi Lemak before but it seems like their Mee Rebus is more famous. They're located at Adam Food Centre which is home to quite a few famous Nasi Lemak Stalls.
The Mee Rebus here is topped with green chili, boiled egg, bean sprouts, calamansi, and lots of shallots. The broth here is on the sweeter side.

Inspirasi is another long-standing Muslim stall that started very early in 1970. They are located at the Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre. The must-try here is the Mee Rebus featuring a thick and mildly spiced gravy with well-balanced flavors. Some are not spicy at all. I added a begedil for extra 50 cents.

8. HJH Yang Chek Nasi Rawon & Mee Rebus
HJH Yang Chek Nasi Rawon & Mee Rebus is a popular stall at Upper Boon Keng Market & Food Centre, known for their nasi rawon and mee rebus. Their Mee Soto is a visually striking dish with yellow egg noodles, fragrant broth, tender shredded chicken, fresh green onions, and sambal. The dish pairs well with a side of begedil, but unfortunately sold out.

9. Wedang
Wedang is a popular hawker stall located at Golden Mile Food Centre that has earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. They are famous for their Mee Soto and Gado Gado and have been operating at the food centre since 2005.
I ordered the Soto Ayam, which features yellow noodles in a flavorful and aromatic broth seasoned with various spices. The dish is topped with shredded chicken, fried shallots, coriander, and Begedil. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Begedil included, as most stalls usually charge extra for it. This dish was worth the $5. The shredded chicken was exceptionally tender, as evident from its texture. The broth was savory and well-balanced, with a hint of spice.
Address: Golden Mile Food Centre, 505 Beach Rd, B1-19, Singapore 19958

10. IDA & SHA
IDA & SHA is a halal hawker stall selling Muslim food such as mee soto, mee rebus, longtong, etc. They are open on weekdays only and always sell out early in the morning. This time I came at their opening time and ordered their mee soto and mee siam.
The mee soto had a rich, comforting flavor, with a mildly spiced chicken broth as its base. The soup is infused with turmeric, giving it an earthy warmth. The shredded chicken absorbs the broth’s flavors, while the fried potato patty on top adds a soft crunch, bringing a unique texture. The portion of the chicken was big, though the chicken can be a bit more tender. The yellow noodles are thicker and heartier making Mee Soto feel more filling and robust. The fried shallots on top give a hint of sweetness and a savory crunch, enhancing the experience with every bite.
