REVIEW: Good Porridge in Singapore: Johor Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge @ Veerasamy Road

Johor Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge is one of the oldest pork porridge stalls in Singapore with humble beginnings with a simple push cart along Johore Road way back in the 50s. The stall has now been taken over by second-gen owners. They open as early as 6.45am so this is a very good option to have for breakfast. Have a bowl of hearty porridge before starting your day, though not sure must wait how long on a weekday. 😅

Johore Road Boon Kee Pork Porridge is located along Veerasamy Road. They specialize in Hainanese porridge and their porridge is visibly grainier and thicker than Cantonese or Teochew porridge. There wasn't a visible queue when I got there but then customers were given a number. I waited for around 20-30 minutes for my order. They have 4 options - Pork, Chicken, Sliced Fish, and Cuttlefish.

Address: Yi He Eating House, 638 Veerasamy Rd, Singapore 200638

Opening Hours: 6.45 am - 2 pm

Closed on Monday

I ordered the pork and sliced fish porridge. My bowl was brimming with ingredients such as you tiao, spring onions, chye poh, pork lard, spring onions, minced pork, pork slices, and sliced fish. The sweet-savory flavors blew me away!
