REVIEW: Good Traditional Thai western-style breakfast in Bangkok: On Lok Yun

We've heard a lot about On Lok Yun and now we can actually experience it! It is now a well-liked spot for breakfast. Please arrive early because the line to enter was really long. The entire coffee shop has an atmosphere reminiscent of the vintage coffee shops found in Singapore.

Address: 72 Charoen Krung Rd, Samphanthawong, Bangkok 10100, Thailand

Opening Hours: 6am - 2.30pm daily

On Lok Yun is a traditional eatery that has been around for more than 80 years. That explains why their interior has such a dated and traditional appearance. Although I'm not sure how "thai" they are, they provide breakfast that is Westernized in the Thai style.

We had their signature which consists of 2 eggs with Bacon, Ham, and Sausage. You can also pick Chinese sausages as well. You can choose to have your eggs done scrambled or over easy which we had for our meal. Can't go wrong with these! I wouldn't say these are super good, but they are comforting to have.

We had their Kaya bread. We had 2 kinds, the plain ones and the other one drizzled generously in their kaya.

The plain ones are so soft and were so good when dipped into the fragrant and sweet kaya.

I think if you haven't been here before, it would be good to come to soak in their old-sch vibe and enjoy some comfort food. I wouldn't recommend a return though. Breakfast is something that you could probably whip up at home.
