REVIEW: Good Claypot Chicken rice in Singapore: New Lucky Claypot Rice 新鸿运瓦煲饭 in Holland V Singapore

Checking out New Lucky Claypot Rice 新鸿运瓦煲饭which was listed in the Michelin guide. The chicken claypot rice was cooked to order, thus there was a long wait.

The anticipation grew as I observed the chefs skillfully preparing the claypot rice over a charcoal stove, which added a distinct and delightful smoky flavor to the dish.

When the chicken claypot rice finally arrived, I noticed generous portions of succulent and tender chicken scattered throughout the rice. However, I couldn't help but feel a slight disappointment. Unlike traditional claypot rice, this version lacked the usual lup Cheong (Chinese sausage) and salted fish, which are known to enhance the overall flavor and texture of the dish.

To customize the taste to my liking, the restaurant provided condiments such as dark soya sauce and oil, allowing diners to adjust the flavor according to their preferences. Unfortunately, I found the rice to be overcooked and mushy, which significantly detracted from my enjoyment of the meal. Considering the extensive coverage this place received from various bloggers, I must admit that my experience fell short of the high expectations I had built up.
