What’s on the Menu?

Kway chap, a traditional Teochew dish, brings together silky, flat rice noodles in a rich, aromatic broth and is paired with a variety of braised delicacies. For our visit, we opted for the set for two, which included:

A hearty portion of tender braised meats

Tau pok (braised tofu puffs)

Tao kee (bean curd skin)

Braised egg

Fishcake

We also added a side of pickled vegetables, which was a fantastic decision, adding a refreshing crunch to the meal.

The “kway” (smooth rice noodles) floats in a warm, herbal broth with a deeply satisfying aroma. The broth is well-balanced, neither overly salty nor too herbal, allowing the essence of each braised item to shine. The silky texture of the noodles pairs perfectly with the rich flavors of the broth, making each mouthful delightful.

The braised meats are the highlight of this dish, offering a perfect balance of lean and fat. Each bite melts in your mouth, with a savory, aromatic richness that lingers pleasantly. The tau pok is soft and juicy, absorbing the broth well, while the braised egg adds a rich, velvety texture. The fishcake and tau kee add to the variety, providing different textures and flavors that make the dish even more enjoyable.
