Baker & Cook: Artisanal Sourdough, Pasta, and Brunch Favourites in Singapore

Baker & Cook is a popular artisanal bakery café in Singapore known for its handcrafted sourdough bread, signature pastries, and hearty brunch menu. Founded by New Zealand-born baker Dean Brettschneider, the brand has expanded across multiple neighbourhoods, offering cozy, family-friendly spaces ideal for breakfast, brunch, or afternoon tea. At its Everton Park–adjacent locations, diners can expect favourites like scrambled eggs on sourdough toast, chocolate almond croissants, granola bowls, and gourmet sandwiches made with freshly baked bread. With a warm, minimalist interior and pet-friendly outdoor seating, Baker & Cook cafés in Singapore are perfect for weekend café-hopping, remote work sessions, or catching up with friends over specialty coffee. Whether you're searching for the best sourdough bakery in Singapore or a charming spot for brunch near Everton Park, Baker & Cook offers a consistently satisfying experience grounded in quality and community.

At Baker & Cook, sourdough isn’t just a philosophy—it’s in their DNA. Drawing on “Little Johnny,” their cherished sourdough starter dating back to 1987, the café chain infuses its identity into everything from breads to baked goods and even pasta dishes.

I have tried their Blueberry Cheesecake and Carrot Cake—the latter stood out with its moist texture and gentle, well-balanced sweetness, making it a delightful pairing with our drinks. The blueberry cheesecake was decent, not overly tangy despite the generous topping of blueberries, as seen in the photo below. The specialty coffee at Baker & Cook was excellent—smooth and aromatic, making it the perfect complement to their signature cakes for a relaxing afternoon at one of the best brunch cafés in Singapore.

I ordered their Sourdough Fettuccine with Chorizo — a hearty, flavour-packed pasta. The house-made fettuccine, prepared using their long-standing sourdough starter, has a lovely chew and subtle tang that elevates the entire plate. The dish features smoky, spiced pork chorizo as its bold centrepiece, infused into a creamy tomato-based pink sauce that coats the sourdough fettuccine. Juicy cherry tomatoes and crisp haricot fine beans add brightness and texture, while a finishing touch of sharp pecorino cheese ties the flavours together beautifully.
