REVIEW: Good Sheng Mian Mee Hoon Kway in Singapore: Seletar Sheng Mian Mee Hoon Kway at Toa Payoh Lor 8 Market, Singapore

Seletar Sheng Mian Mee Hoon Kway is a popular hawker stall at the Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market & Hawker Centre. They had moved from the now-demolished Seletar market to Toa Payoh. Their relocation hasn't diminished their popularity, as they continue to excel in crafting delicious sheng mian and mee hoon kway dishes. During our visit, we tried both dry and soup versions of their sheng mian, along with mee hoon kueh in soup.

Their broth simmered to perfection with a blend of pork and ikan bilis, forms a flavorful base that complements the thick and hearty sheng mian noodles wonderfully. Their signature dish boasts a delightful mix of prawns, minced meat, pork, fresh vegetables, and a flawlessly cooked egg. The sheng mian noodles maintain a pleasing texture, being springy and al dente, skillfully prepared to avoid any overcooking. However, the dry sheng mian with dark sauce fell slightly short, with its somewhat one-dimensional flavor.

The mee hoon kueh, handcrafted and torn on the spot, showcased a chewy and slightly doughy texture, ideal for soaking up the delectable broth. As expected, the stall draws quite a crowd, so it's advisable to arrive early to avoid waiting in line.
