10 Hokkien mee hawker stalls in Singapore you don't want to miss!

10 Hokkien mee stalls in Singapore you don't want to miss!

Long-standing Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Mee 南星福建炒虾面 has been operating since the 1960s!
It is just the kind of Hokkien mee that I love!! If you read my past reviews on Hokkien mee, you will know that I like mine moist. They got it right! I remember coming here before and they were sold out just slightly after lunchtime. Expect to queue for a very long time. They have a mixture of thin vermicelli and thick yellow noodles. What's best about Nam Sing is their rich seafood broth which makes their Hokkien mee yummy. They are one of the must-try stalls at Old Airport Road Food Centre. This delicious plate of Hokkien mee comes in 2 sizes: Normal ($5) and Large ($8)

No delivery options here BUT You can call ☎️ 6440 5340 for takeaway orders! Please let them know how many packets and what time will you be collecting.

Another long-standing stall that serves up a delicious plate of Hokkien Mee. They have been operating since 1968!

I like my Hokkien mee to be soaked with zhup and be kind of soggier so Swee Guan Hokkien Mee 水源福建面 is already a win to me. On top of that, the prawns were fresh and you could taste traces of strong wok hei while you slurp on the noodles. This is due to being charcoal fried!

Be prepared to queue up though as this store is kind of popular. I went there at night and it was easy to get a seat at the coffee shop where the store is situated at even though there was a long queue. The store is also walkable from Aljunied MRT Station. It is priced at $6, $8 and $10 portions. This may is slightly pricier than others but you won't regret paying for this!

They're not available on any delivery platforms but you can drop by for takeaway!

The owner of this store is just a genius! This clay pot concoction is so good! I guess it is different when you eat from the plate than from the clay pot because there's a lot of "zhup" here and it is served piping hot to you. Air bubbles from the below picture are evidence of this. Noodles are wet, moist, and flavorful! Roast pork is served crispy and roasted to perfection. The added bonus here is the clams. I feel that the prawns used could be better and fresher though. Brought the mother to eat with me but she did not like it. :(  Wanted to share with her since it is priced at $10 for 2 people.

The pricing is as follows:
Claypot Hokkien Mee ($10/$15/$20/$25/$30) + $1 takeaway container
Opeh Leaf ($8/$10/$12)
Hokkien Mee ($4/$6)

Tian tian Lai has been in Toa Payoh since 1968!!!
Their Hokkien Prawn Mee is Well-cooked in yummy prawn stock with added gooey texture to the whole dish. Noodles soaked in the stock was very welcoming. Prawns were fresh but quite small. Pork lard and belly pork strips serve as garnishing. I love my Hokkien mee wet and nice! Read that the noodles may taste better with chili but I am not a spicy eater. :(

Although the shop is called come daily also known as tian tian lai, they are not open every day!! Please give them a call before you head down to avoid disappointment. Obviously, I called before I went down and Lunch hours are packed with people so waiting is inevitable.

Omg, they have ISLAND-WIDE delivery available. Submit your orders via Whatsapp at 96717071

This particular store is famous among the Queenstown area and has close to 40 years of history. They are located at ABC Food centre. As they are quite well-known, the queue can be quite long. It can take up to 15 to 30 minutes for your plate of yummy Hokkien mee to be served.

The noodles here were tender and flavorful crustacean sauce made the dish moist and palatable. I have forgotten how many prawns are there on my plate but the prawns are size-ably good. Give this a try if you like your Hokkien Mee moist like me. :) They are not awarded the Michelin Bob Gourmand 2019 for nothing!

They are not available on any delivery platform but you can go for takeaway!

So I went to eat at Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee 新加坡炒福建虾面 and it is located at Whampoa Drive Makan Place (Nearest MRT: Boon Keng). I love the wetter and moist version of this local #hawkerfare ~so this plate of Hokkien mee is good for me. *slurps* 👅

Unfortunately, there wasn't any pork lard or prawns in this plate. I only realize when someone commented on my Instagram post. XD There was a small queue when I arrived and they are featured in several Mediacorp shows and also winning some awards over the years. Btw the queue starts at the front of the store and it leads to the right-hand side where you order and collect your plate of scrumptious Hokkien mee.

They are not available on any delivery platform but you can go for takeaway!

Hainan Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee 海南福建炒虾面.
They actually cut the noodles and bee hoon shorter for you?

The plate of dry Hokkien Prawn mee Tastes good! The umaminess was sealed in each strand of the noodles with a slight hint of smokiness wok. Yes, I tried my best to identify the wok hei taste.

Btw, they're super busy so there should be a queue when you're there, but the uncle asked me to go take a seat first and come back after 10-15 minutes to collect my plate. :)

This is nearer to Lavender MRT Station. However, you can walk from Bugis as well.

Xie Kee Hokkien Mee 謝記福建面 is located at Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre. I have been wanting to try this particular store out since it is quite popular and is located along the way to school! This food centre is always crowded but somehow I always manage to find a seat.

The noodle that they use is flat kind which differs from other stores. I can definitely taste some wok hei in it but I feel like this was kind of just above average and lacking in taste. I wouldn't say it is extremely tasty but you can try it out if you're in the vicinity?

They are not available on any delivery platform but you can go for takeaway!

This is my virgin eats at HONG HENG FRIED SOTONG PRAWN MEE 鸿興炒蘇東蝦麵 and what really lured me to Tiong Bahru was their Michelin bib gourmand status.

The noodles were served in short strands and imbued with the essence of the crustacean broth.  You can choose to mix the noodles with the sweet sambal chili that is served at the side. Ya'll know what kind of Hokkien mee I like though.. wet and moist and this has none of that but this was quite tasty too! I think it's worth trying if you're looking for Hokkien mee in that area. Do note the long queue during lunchtime. It is reasonably priced at $3, $4 or $5.

When the 小弟 eats at 小弟炒虾面... but 小弟 wished that the portion could be bigger but other than that this is not too bad!! Hokkien mee should be moist and wet like this! This taste kind of similar to Tian Tian Lai Fried Hokkien Mee
