Ichiban Bento, a Concept by RE&S Group, Launches Nutrient-rich and High-Protein Oishii Bowls

Eat Clean. Taste Great. Each well-balanced meal comes with 1 protein,

2 vegetable and 1 carb option.

Keeping to a healthy diet is not always easy amidst a busy schedule. To help you eat clean and adhere to a balanced diet, Ichiban Bento has come up with a new slow-cooked series, with each of the offerings ticking the boxes of rich nutrients, high dietary fiber, and quality proteins. The meals follow the balanced-meal guideline published by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. Each meal comprises one protein, two vegetables, and one carb options. The offerings will be launched on 27 October 2020.

The secret recipes of the mainstays are specially developed by Ichiban Bento’s team of Japanese chefs.
The meats are all sous vide, cooked at a low temperature over a long period of time. This technique ensures that the natural juices and nutrients are preserved. The meals are also chockfull of protein-packed superfoods, antioxidants, minerals, and vitamin K. Accompanying the meats are unique sides, including Cauliflower Kinpira (spicy cauliflower); Hijiki Renkon (black seaweed salad with lotus root); Wafu Mixed Vegetables (sautéed vegetables with bonito flakes); Tamagoyaki; and Tofu Garlic Chilli Oil.

The carb options include healthy ingredients such as multigrain rice, buckwheat, and honey lemon quinoa. There are also various sauces, from nori to yuzu oroshi, shio konbu Negi to wafu steak, which is created from scratch by the chefs. The sauces elevate the offerings with their savory punch.

The meals are as follows:
Shio Konbu Chicken Bowl S$11 (Recommended): Set on a bed of multigrain rice, the tender chicken is paired with broccoli pepperoncino and tamagoyaki. All the ingredients are pulled together by the shio konbu (kelp and leek) sauce.

Tender-licious Pork Bowl S$15 (Recommended): Seasoned with pepper, the fork-tender pork steak is accompanied with buckwheat as carbs; the sides are spinach sesame and hijiki renkon. The sauce used here is the demi-glace.

Wafu Beef Bowl S$17: Pairing impeccably with the multigrain rice, the juicy beef is cooked to the perfect doneness. It is complete with a medley of cauliflower kinpira, green salad, and onsen egg. Wafu steak sauce adds a depth of flavor.

Aburi Salmon Bowl S$16: Thanks to the sous vide technique, the salmon emerges perfectly moist and tender. Cauliflower kinpira and spinach sesame, plain rice with furikake, and nori (Japanese seaweed) sauce come together to make a satisfying meal.

Classic Smoked Duck Bowl S$15: Lip-smacking slices of duck, with a smoky finish! Sauteéd mushroom, green salad, plain rice with furikake, and Japanese seaweed sauce round out the line-up.

Yuzu Oroshi Saba Bowl S$15: The pronounced taste of the fresh mackerel leaps forth upon the first bite. The fish is paired with hijiki renkon, edamame, multigrain rice, and the refreshing yuzu oroshi (citrus grated radish) sauce.

Pirikara Veggie Bowl S$10.50: This nourishing vegetarian don showcases hijiki renkon, tofu garlic chili oil, broccoli pepperoncino, cauliflower kinpira, and roasted baby potatoes.

Feeling adventurous? You can also tailor a Build-Your-Own 1:2:1 Meal (from S$12). Choose any one protein, two sides, and one carb option, paired with a sauce of your choice to create a bowl that best suits your palate and satisfies your cravings!

The meals are available at Ichiban Bento Alexandra Retail Centre, Waterway Point, Causeway Point, JEM, and Great World (Ichiban Express outlet). They are also available for delivery on foodpanda, GrabFood, Deliveroo, or online at http://eatclean.ichibanbento.com.sg
