Gokoku Japanese Bakery Originated From Kobe Launches Its First Dine-in Cafe at Millenia Walk With New Offerings

Gokoku launches an exclusive sandwich selection made using their signature bread and buns along with whimsical Christmas selections

Can’t travel to Japan for your year-end holidays? Let Japan come to you instead! Gokoku Japanese Bakery opens its 3rd outlet in Singapore at Millenia Walk: best of all, the new outlet comes with a dedicated dine-in café space and an exclusive new menu of Japanese-inspired sandwiches made with Gokoku’s signature bread and buns. Gokoku Japanese Bakery is a concept from the RE&S family of brands.

For Gokoku first-timers, we recommend the Chicken Amakara Burger ($4.5) to start with. Amakara is a common method of cooking in Japan that utilizes soy sauce and sugar to create a unique taste that’s both sweet and savory. The chicken patty is then deep-fried to crisp, golden perfection, before being sandwiched between two fragrant 5-grain rice flour burger buns and laden with fresh greens, chili sauce, and a delicious homemade lemon mayonnaise sauce.

There’s also the Teriyaki Chicken & Egg Sandwich ($5.5), Gokoku’s take on the classic sando which features juicy, marinated slices of chicken and a creamy, homemade egg mayonnaise mixture placed between two slices of wholesome 5-grain toast.

For more egg-citing dishes, try the Ham & Egg Sandwich ($5.2). This sweet Meiho toast is stuffed with honey glazed pork ham, homemade egg mayonnaise, and lettuce for a deliciously uncomplicated meal. The Tonkatsu & Egg Sandwich ($5.8) features the same sweet Meiho bread, this time with a breaded pork loin topped with tonkatsu sauce and homemade egg mayonnaise with mustard filling.

Looking for something a little different? Try the Salmon Cheese Gokoku Komeko Pan ($4.8). This chewy rice flour bun comes packed with generous slices of fresh salmon layered with premium cheese slices, onions, and mustard sauce — it’s a satisfying meal that leaves a clean, refreshing taste on the palate.

Fans of cheese can also opt for the Shio Pan Ham & Cheese ($3.8), which features a savory soft bun filled with honey glazed pork and cream cheese. The Mozzarella Cheese & Bacon Gokoku Komeko Pan ($4.8) brings a heartier take on the classic sandwich: this chewy rice flour bun is filled with Italian mozzarella cheese, fresh bacon, some crunchy tomatoes, and lettuce, and topped with mustard sauce.

Other unique offerings include the Salmon Katsu Burger ($4.5), which brings with it a generously breaded salmon katsu patty and a homemade lemon mayonnaise sauce within a chewy 5-grain rice flour burger bun, and the Shio Pan Chicken & Avocado ($3.8), whose savory and buttery bread pairs perfectly with a sous-vide chicken breast and fresh avocado slices.

If you can’t decide what to eat, go for the Mix Sandwich ($5.2) — this simple combination of honey glazed pork ham, homemade egg mayonnaise filling, and tuna make for a crowd-pleasing favorite. Also available at Gokoku’s new Millenia Walk branch are all of its beloved buns, which include favorites like the signature Gokoku Shichifuku Pan, a hearty bread rich in minerals and dietary fiber that’s loved by all for its soft and chewy texture, the Malt Kurumi Pan, a popular clover-shaped bun filled with walnuts, rye and soya bean that sells over 40,000 pieces in Japan every month, and the Signature Hokkaido Red Bean Anpan, a simple yet satisfying snack made with premium red bean paste and a soft bun.

Other delightful offerings from Gokoku’s bakery include the Mochi Mochi Cheese — an addictively slightly chewy masterpiece made with Gokoku’s signature Meiho dough and diced cheese — as well as the Mochi Mochi Cranberry, a fragrant snack that brings a light butter flavor balanced with the gentle sweetness of fresh cranberry bits.

Using traditional Japanese ingredients such as brown rice and sakadane — a traditional rice yeast used widely in Japanese bread — Gokoku’s buns are baked from scratch every day using production methods and techniques straight from Japanese kitchens and bakeries. Plus, with baking sessions spread throughout the day, bread-lovers can look forward to fresh buns all day long.

Christmas Sweets

It’s a winter ‘Wa’nderland with Gokoku’s exclusive Christmas sweet treats! For the festive season, Gokoku has launched three unique log cakes and special Christmas Macarons. First up is the Chocolate Bliss Log ($39.9) — a must-have treat at every Christmas party. This decadent cake features a soft and fluffy chocolate sponge infused with a delightful mixture of chocolate cream and almond praline paste. Best of all, it comes topped with two crunchy chocolate macarons!

For a light, sweet treat, go for the enchanting Strawberry Tiramisu Log ($39.9). You’ll find thick mascarpone cream and strawberry jam imported from Japan encased in an airy vanilla sponge. A generous helping of fresh strawberry cream envelopes the entire log cake, which comes crowned with two sweet raspberry macarons.

Matcha-lovers will definitely want to try the special Matcha Mont Blanc Log ($39.9), a uniquely Japanese creation that combines a fluffy green tea sponge cake with red bean cream from Hokkaido. The entire cake comes covered with a luscious layer of Uji matcha mont blanc cream, a combination that’s both sweet and delightfully tart.

Need a gift for that special someone? Pick up a box of the adorable Christmas Macarons ($10.6/box, $20/2 boxes), which come with an assortment of 4 festive-themed designs, like a red-nosed reindeer and a jolly Santa belt! The boxes are available in 3 varieties and in a range of flavors like Salted Caramel, Matcha, Lychee, and Vanilla.
