Pairing with Hong Kong-style beverages

The mini mooncakes will go well with Joy Luck Teahouse’s Hong Kong-style bubble milk tea: Pearl of the Orient. It is made with Joy Luck Teahouse’s milk tea, complemented with a generous amount of brown sugar tapioca balls. The Hong Kong-style milk tea follows a secret recipe that calls for a blend of superior-quality tea leaves imported from Sri Lanka. European full cream evaporated milk is added to the brew to lend a moderately sweet flavor.

There is also the “Pearls of Joy” series, which features Hong Kong-style beverages. It uses healthier pearls compared to the usual tapioca pearls: Seaweed Jelly Pearls and Lychee Popping Pearls. The seaweed pearls are firmer and have fewer calories. The Lychee Popping Pearls have a delightful texture — bite into each pearl and lychee juice oozes out. There are three new cold bubble fizzy drinks in this series, each a fusion of Hong Kong and Singapore influences Lychee Fizz 荔枝蘇打, Sour Plum Fizz 酸梅蘇打, and Honey Lemon Fizz 檸檬蜜蘇打. Boasting a sweet fragrance, lychee is a popular fruit in Hong Kong, used as an ingredient for many beloved Hong Kong desserts. A palate cleanser, sour plum invigorates the senses with its sweet-sour note. Boasting medicinal properties, honey lemon is used traditionally to soothe the throats; it is also good for the vocal cords.

Offerings by legendary brands that are lauded by Hong Kong stars

Joy Luck Teahouse is the latest F&B concept by legendary TV producer Robert Chua, who was responsible for bringing Tim Ho Wan and Kam’s Roast into Singapore.

First opened in August 2020, the teahouse offers the three famous culinary treasures of Hong Kong: egg tarts, pineapple buns, and milk tea. A part of Hong Kong’s food legacy, these three offerings are recognized on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong list. Besides the three items, Joy Luck Teahouse also doles out Hong Kong Fish Balls and an array of Hong Kong-style beverages. These items are from notable brands in Hong Kong, lauded by famous celebrities such as Chow Yun-Fat, Liza Wang, Paula Tsui, Wong Cho-Lam , and Dicky Cheung.
