REVIEW: Good hawker food in Singapore: Traditional Claypot rice at Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Food Centre

Traditional Claypot rice at Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Food Centre has been around for many years already. Their clay pot chicken rice is supposed to be the signature dish here and is cooked traditionally with chicken, salted fish, Chinese sausage, and vegetables. Their chicken is always so tender. They provide oil and dark sauce so I always drizzle them all over and give it a good toss.  If you're near Toa Payoh or Braddell, you can go check out this food stall.

Claypot Rice is a dish that requires slow-cooking over a charcoal burner, which imparts a particular flavor to the rice. They open at 5:30 p.m. and have a busy evening crowd, so I always phone ahead and get a reservation.

Address: Blk 75 Food Centre, 75 Lorong 5 Toa Payoh #01-32, 310075
